This election is a warning for all Demoralized Democrats. While DC Democrats spent weeks fighting each other, Republicans were focused on mobilizing their base and peeling away voters from the President Joe Biden coalition using deceptive, divisive tactics, it's time to focus on what's next. Congressional Democrats must immediately pass the infrastructure and Build Back Better bills. We must begin tomorrow to consolidate and mobilize those who turned out to vote Democratic in 2020. And we must draw a sharp contrast between Democratic progress and Republican extremism.

The nearest-term issuesThings may not have been blown up on Monday, but there are still very real issues that need to be resolved -- and quickly. There are intensive negotiations to find a compromise on prescription drugs -- something left out of Biden's framework -- that can make its way into the package. This is a huge issue for House Democrats, who know it polls extremely well and has also been a long-standing commitment for the party. But the opposition of a handful of House House Democrats and Sinema have limited the scope and scale of the initial ambitions.Still, for a few days it appeared it would be scrapped altogether. Then House Democrats launched frenzied behind-the-scenes negotiations to try and thread the needle. Those are still ongoing.Democratic leaders also have to address immigration, which a handful of House Democrats have also said must be addressed to secure House Democrats votes. Senate rules have limited -- if not outright killed -- most ambitions on this front. But leaders know they need some kind of resolution here. And finally, Manchin's full-throated view that Senator Manchin needs to see scores in order to vote on any final proposal isn't exclusive to him. There are a group of moderate House House Democrats who share that view and have communicated it with leadership, according to two sources.Given how quickly Democratic leaders want to move, that stance makes things more complicated.Remember : House Speaker Nancy Pelosi can only afford to lose three House Democrats. There is virtually no margin for error and a number of real issues to resolve -- and fast. Another under-appreciated outstanding issueProgressives may now be willing to move forward without explicit assurances from centrist senators, but moderate Democrats have been clear for weeks they don't want to vote on anything that will then be changed in the Senate. With Senator Manchin making clear there's still a long way to go with Senator Manchin, this is an issue that needs to be reconciled.About the Senator Manchin remarksCNN reported that Senator Manchin had been frustrated that House Democrats were trying to get Senator Manchin to make a clear endorsement of the $ 1.75 trillion framework -- and Senator Manchin wanted to make clear where Senator Manchin stood as Senator Manchin was getting lobbied to back adding more social programs to the plan, according to a source familiar with Senator Manchin thinking. Senator Manchin also had grown angry that progressives thought they had leverage over Senator Manchin to back the $ 1.75 trillion social safety net expansion plan if they withheld their support for the $ 1.2 trillion infrastructure bill, the source said. Senator Manchin, the source said, also didn't like last-minute changes being made to the social safety net proposal. In short, Senator Manchin didn't want to get jammed into supporting something Senator Manchin was far from ready to endorse. The White House viewAbout 20 minutes after Senator Manchin concluded Senator Manchin remarks, White House press secretary Jen Psaki released this statement :.

The rather conservative International Energy Agency itself has said there can be no new fossil fuel infrastructure if we are to avert dangerous warming. And the G7 nations committed to phasing out coal and ending support for new coal projects earlier this summer, we need to see similar commitments from the G20 countries, including an accelerated schedule for phasing out coal.

The reality is that while talks around the infrastructure bill lasted months in the Senate, there has only been serious discussion around the specifics of the larger Build Back Better Act in recent weeks, thanks to Congressional Progressive Caucus holding the line and putting both parts of the agenda back on the table, now, Congress needs to finish the job and bring both bills to a vote together.

As Congress works to move forward a historic investment in broadband infrastructure, strong leadership at Federal Communications Commission is essential to deliver on the connectivity goals our 21-century economy demands, with more than two decades of experience at the Federal Communications Commission and the Senate Committee on Commerce, I am confident that both Jessica Rosenworcel and Gigi Sohn have the expertise needed to close the digital divide and strengthen our nation for generations to come.

> London( CNN Business) As Wall Street watches the debate over President Joe Biden's flagship infrastructure, climate and social spending plans in Washington, it has one major question : Will corporations pay more in tax to fund the programs? This week, investors could get an answer, as Democrats race to finalize a package and get it over to President Joe Biden before President Joe Biden leaves on a trip to Europe. What's happening : The President Joe Biden administration wanted to raise the corporate tax rate to 28 % from 21 %, while Democrats in the House had pitched a 26.5 % rate. Yet lawmakers have indicated they're pivoting away from corporate tax hikes due to opposition from Arizona Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, a crucial swing vote.Biden said last week that Kyrsten Sinema.

We've just spent many years preparing and talking about a pandemic, and quite frankly, we were not prepared. We did not put the infrastructure in place that we actually needed to put in place. We de-invested in... our health and public health systems in ways that quite tragically resulted in two years of significant outbreak that did not have to be as bad as it was, the real issue here is that we're about to do the same mistake again. We're about to have the same things happen to us because we have not really invested in the mitigation and adaptation that is necessary to address climate change.

The tonal shiftThe most tangible development over the course of Tuesday was the subtle, yet very critical, shift in tone coming from the Democratic members who have held significant sway -- or even control -- over the state of play in White House. Red lines that had been drawn were blurred. Public spats that spilled into the open played out again behind closed doors. Yes, the details still need significant work. No, not all members are there yet. But, there was a recognition that something had to happen and fast before The President leaves for Scotland. It's a shift from where members were just before the recess, when Pelosi was forced to postpone a vote on the bipartisan infrastructure bill because factions could not come together. The impending deadline of Glasgow paired with the reality of a midterm election just a year away and the constant barrage of stories about Democratic infighting all coalesced and began chipping away at the resolve of folks who up until this point had demanded they get everything or give nothing at all. Here's your signFor example : Members of the progressive caucus started to say they may not need a full Senate vote on the Build Back Better package before they vote for the bipartisan infrastructure bill. Members in that meeting said that is because The President made it abundantly clear that any bill that The President backed and said would have the Senate's support, would. Analysis : Gas prices are high. That could mess with Bidens climate agenda.

It's going to have to continually be updated as the environment changes in the future, the infrastructure that's in place today isn't going to protect New Orleans in five, 10, 15 years. That's only going to get worse as sea level rises, as storms not only become more frequent but become stronger.

The something vs. nothing discussion, to me, it's way too early to have that discussion. That's something that happens at the end of a negotiation, when you really fought for something, and the truth is, there was five months of negotiation on the infrastructure bill. And there's been really no negotiation on the Build Back Better Act.

I'm worried about both parties. Both parties need to come together and work together because you can not have just run the country on 50 % of the brainpower. You need 100 % of the brainpower, so therefore, you need Republican ideas when you do health care reform. You need Democratic ideas when you do health care reform. You need Republican ideas when you do the infrastructure. You need Democratic ideas when you do the infrastructure.
