When White House put out this infrastructure and jobs plan, we did a' control f' and looked for youth and what provisions they had for young people. To be honest, there weren't many at all, we were really worried that so many young people and young people of color would be left out. We did a lot of meetings and put together a smaller coalition focused on jobs for young people.

I couldn’t be more thrilled to have him be that person, when Coach K and I put things together back in ’05, ’06, we talked about building infrastructure that would carry on after we’re gone. And I believe that’s really what’s transpired.

Structurally they are betting the farm and everything possible to get through these midterms, and they are just opening up the checkbook to do it. ' Public investment shrinks as safety net balloonsWhatever the immediate political impact, if President Joe Biden ultimately signs anything like the proposed program, it would mark a new era in Washington's role in the economy.Over the past 50 years, federal spending, as a share of the nation's economic output, has averaged about 20.6 %, according to calculations by the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, a centrist group that argues for budgetary restraint. Washington has significantly exceeded that level only in times of crisis : Spending reached 24 % of the nation's gross domestic product during Obama's first term immediately after the 2008 financial crisis and roughly 32 % during the Covid pandemic, federal figures show. ( Federal spending as a share of the economy reached its modern high of more than 40 % at the height of World War II.) Though federal spending over the past half century has remained relatively constant at about one-fifth of the economy, the composition of that spending has shifted dramatically. Over that period, public investment -- defined primarily as federal spending on infrastructure, education and training, and support for research and development -- has declined, while the safety net -- including such payments to individuals as Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, food assistance and various tax credits for families -- has soared. Its totally different from anything put forward by Obama or Clinton. In terms of any kind of coherent strategic focus theres been nothing like this since the build-out of the suburbs, and the buildup of the educational system.Josh Bivens, research director, Economic Policy InstituteIn 1969, federal figures show, public investment and payments to individuals each consumed nearly one-third of total federal spending, an amount equal to about 6 % of the economy. By 2019, the last year before Washington poured huge sums into the Covid crisis, public investment had fallen to just 12.5 % of Responsible Federal Budget while payments to individuals had grown past 70 %. Public investment now equals only about 2.5 % of the economy, while payments to individuals consume more than five times as much. The exact distribution between public investment and safety net spending in the Democratic plans isn't known, because the party hasn't released details on the funding levels in the $ 3.5 trillion budget blueprint that Senate Democrats recently agreed on. But it's clear that the proposal -- coupled with the bipartisan infrastructure agreement advancing on a separate track -- would represent a huge expansion on both fronts. The infusion of new money for public investment might be most striking, given how steadily it has lost ground in federal priorities. Public investment fell from about 30 % of federal spending in the late 1960s to about 20 % by the late 1970s and 15 % by the mid-1990s, a plateau from which it's since drifted further down except for a brief recovery under Obama's first-term stimulus plan. The budget plans Senate Democrats are advancing would provide a more lasting turnaround. The bipartisan plan would spend almost $ 600 billion on.

Databases of vulnerable critical national infrastructure will be traded in the future like the data of stolen credit card numbers today. When such data is processed, some nodes will still be visible and vulnerable, others will have already been compromised, and some will no longer be exposed online. The freshness of the data will be a factor in the price of such datasets, probably more so than the strict accuracy of the data it contains. The ability to rapidly act in an automated manner on such data by either defenders or attackers will define the next few years of critical infrastructure protection.

We must improve the conditions of the stadiums because if we do not start an investment path in infrastructure we will never be able to aspire to organise such a great event, we must do things quickly. For me, we cannot go into a bid thinking that ‘we have the stadiums, but if you give me the event, I will then improve them’. That’s not how it works.

We have seen enormous growth in demand for Google cloud services in India so expanding our footprint in a new cloud region gives us the ability to offer more capacity for growth over many years, it’s a large commitment from us in capital and infrastructure investment and it’s designed to allow us to capture the opportunity that we see around growth.

I'm not there yet, i'm still interested in working to see if we can find a quality, bipartisan infrastructure plan. I want to be involved in that engagement and effort. But I'm still troubled by the statements of Speaker Pelosi. ... It doesn't seem the right kind of negotiating tactic to say,' Yeah, I'll support a bipartisan plan, only as long as I get a vote on everything else I want.'.

As we have said in the context of attacks that have taken place in recent months, they have been carried out by Iran-backed militias and President Biden in turn has responded, responded in different ways but of course, perhaps most visibly by authorizing the military strikes most recently, late last month but also, before that as well on Iran-backed militia infrastructure in Iraq and Syria, i wouldn't want to speak to the motivation of these attacks. I will say that what we recognize is that these attacks reflect and are representative of the threat that Iran-backed militias present fundamentally to Iraq's sovereignty, and to Iraq's stability.

We have to conserve water better, we have to use less water. ... We have water restrictions across the state, we have to store more water. The people that settled these arid mountain valleys and western states knew that. We're not doing a great job of that anymore. I'm grateful that in this bipartisan infrastructure push there is money for that type of infrastructure, storing water above ground and underground as well will make a big difference.

Would I like to see a lot of elements of the social infrastructure plan implemented ? Absolutely, but I think this is important that we demonstrate that this place can operate. I think it's demonstrably clear that( President Joe Biden) hasn't done a lot. This is someone who has all the resources available to him as the most powerful person in the world to rally members of President Joe Biden own party to at least make an exception to the filibuster for purposes of saving our democracy, and instead, the media and the work of a number of senators has been focused on a bipartisan infrastructure package.
