Ciccone
Ciccone is a family name of Italian origin. The name means "Big Cicco", and is an augmentative form of "Cicco"—a hypocorism of the given name Francisco.

Ciccone is not an Italian name. They were a tribe in Thrace. They are written about in the Illiad, by Homer. This is the tribe that, killed 72 of Odysseus' men on the Island of Ciccones. They were known for there fierce fighting ability, especially on horseback. Alexander the Great used the Ciccones, in many of his battles and the Thracians aid of Alexander is mentioned in the Old Testament. The Ciccones migrated to Italy around 36B.C. when the Thracians were part of the Roman auxiliary army. Settling in the Naples Region, as many Ciccone soldiers would have been part of the Slave Rebellion. Spartacus was a Thracian. The philosopher, Orpheus came from the Ciccone Tribe. Other spellings include Cicone, Ciconi, Cicconi. The name originated in Northern Thrace, now Bulgaria, the original spelling was Kikkone and was pronounced Kick-cone. The definition of Ciccone, can not be translated from Italian, since it's origins are not Italian.
