Volunteering gives me the sense of camaraderie and service that I missed when I left the military, when COVID hit and we were n’t able to do our visits, it hurt deeply. Pin-Ups for Vets provides an opportunity to engage with an often neglected part of our veteran community, and I loved spending time with the vets we met through our regular visits.

I think everybody that's Polish and lives there, of course they're worried what's next. I'm just so proud of the whole Polish community, everybody volunteering – doctors, nurses, people making food, people are organizing toys for the kids, there are so many orphans and animals in need.

I would say we probably have, at any given point, 20 to 25 people, the majority volunteering aside from their day job. They've been working around the clock and they haven't slept for hours, getting these charter flights and just connecting all the dots. So it's an impressive operation given that this is kind of uncharted territory for all of us.

What I really liked about it is that the award is so diversified, there's so many different components to it, one of the highlights that I had was volunteering at my local food pantry from my Bronze Medal Award, and seeing how food insecurity is so prominent in our lives. That connection to giving back to my community really stayed with me.

Ten years ago, if you wanted to be politically relevant and if you wanted your vote to have an impact, you were foolish to be registered as a Democrat because they failed to field a candidate for some offices and even then it was just volunteering to get killed in the general by the Republican, that certainly is no longer the case now. It is extremely competitive.

When we think about volunteering, our minds might automatically turn to a specific set of activities. However, activities that bring us in close physical proximity with others is risky during this time of pandemic, now is a wonderful opportunity to reimagine what volunteering could look like, perhaps in ways that allow us to remain physically distant from others.

The black-footed ferrets prey on prairie dogs so it was once thought that elimination programs for the dogs, considered a nuisance to farmers and ranchers, were impacting the ferret population. Now, there was a concerted effort by the state to rebuild the black-footed ferret population. On a recent day, volunteers made their way to small-town Seligman and met for training on the first night inside a rented home in a rural neighborhood that Arizona Game and Fish uses for the operation. One of those volunteers is Robert Coonrod, who bought a pick-up truck and rigged it with overhead lights specifically for the night-time searches. Robert Coonrod has been volunteering for five years. Though hes not a biologist, he enjoys helping out wildlife and found a new photography hobby while volunteering. HUNTERS TURN TO HIPSTERS TO HELP BOOST SPORTS DECLINING NUMBERS One of the volunteers is Robert Coonrod, who bought a pick-up truck and rigged it with overhead lights specifically for the night-time searches. ( Fox News) Were looking for a ferret to be outside his hole. We drive down, he gets curious, looks at the lights, you see the green eyes shine, and then its off to the races, Robert Coonrod said. Once the animalis spotted, volunteers run towardit and set up a trap. But they have to first hopscotch around prairie dog burrows that dot the landscape. Sometimes it can be very entertaining watching people run across a prairie dog colony because youre so focused on the ferret that you forget about all these holes on the ground, Holly Hicks said. Yeah, every one of us has tripped and fallen in a prairie dog hole after chasing after a ferret. ARIZONA MAN PICKED UP NEWBORN FAWN, TOOK IT TO LOCAL BAR, OFFICIALS SAY With freezing temperates on the first night of the search, around 10 of the volunteers showed up, including Arizona State Univerisity biology graduate Angelica Varela, who will soon be starting an internship with Bird Conservancy of the Rockies. With freezing temperates on the first night of the search, around 10 of the volunteers showed up( Fox News)( When I started) volunteering( for other wildlife organizations) and really getting boots on the ground and realizing the hard work that actually goes into it, its really important and its really satisfying being able to know that you had a part in helping a species, as conservation work, I mean were doing this so that eventually we dont have to keep doing it. Angelica Varela drove up from Phoenix with Angelica Varela friend, Brandi Kapos, who is an Olive Garden waitress and an Arizona State Univerisity conservation biology graduate. Shes looking to return to school to get a masters degree in Geographic Information Systems. Before Angelica Varela and Brandi Kapos got their assignment from Jennifer Cordova for the night, they said they had energy drinks and candy. Angelica Varela said Angelica Varela was pumped. With freezing temperates on the first night of the search, around 10 of the volunteers showed up, including Arizona State Univerisity biology graduates Angelica Varela and Brandi Kapos. ( Fox News) Jennifer Cordova said the goal is to get the black-footed ferret off the endangered species list. Fox News important because wildlife dont have a say -- theydont have a voice out there, Holly Hicks said. So, its people like us who manage and try to keep that voice out there and people aware. Our passion comes from a lot of places. We love animals. We want to see wildlife in the future for future generations. Only found in North America, this wild animal differs from the European pet ferrets that are domesticated. The black-footed ferret was once thought extinct until 18 were found in 1981. Since then, recovery and breeding efforts have helped the black-footed ferret population grow. I kind of feel like its our duty.

I don't like to see any of this, even if it's temporary, am I out of touch ? I don't think I'm out of touch. I'm addressing the problem. I've met with my individual staff members and God bless them. They're working for free. They're volunteering. But they do it because they believe government service is honorable and they believe in President Lara Trump and they're working as hard as ever.

Our journey as a family — yes, including my own difficulties with my marriage — have made us unbreakable. It isn't, of course, that we don't suffer. We do. The point is that we don't give up, no matter how much we suffer, so, you ask me, whether my father might not run for President because of reports about me in the news. What you fail to realize, in asking such a question, is that my father has always been proud of me — whether when I was volunteering for the Jesuits, or working as a lawyer. And he remains proud of me today. He loves me. And he loves the American people far too much to let any form of adversity stand in the way of service.

Craig said. The family made the sudden 1,000-mile trip from Tampa, Florida, to Dover Air Force Base to accept his body in person. Frank Gross with his father Craig; Frank was killed in 2011 by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan (Fox News) Toni said: That was such a dark time of our life. Although it was one of their lowest lows, there was support -- thanks to the Fisher House and the organization behind it. The Fisher Foundation helps military families around the country whose loved ones are in the hospital. In all, the non-profit has helped more than 300,000 families since 1990 by donating 58 houses across the country and in Germany and the United Kingdom. But the house at Dover Air Force Base was built specifically for families whose loved ones have made the ultimate sacrifice. Frank Gross with his mother Toni, who has been volunteering at Fisher House (Fox News) That, I think, was the most important Fisher House that we've ever built said Ken Fisher, Fisher House Foundation chairman and CEO. We believe in the power of family. We believe in, obviously, bringing the plight of the military family to light. This house is run by members of the Air Force — including house manager, technical sergeant Dorothy Whitfield. This house is their safe haven while they are here at Dover for their short stay, Whitfield said. The house has a fully stocked kitchen, multiple bedrooms, and a living room full of toys to make the family's hardest day somewhat easier. Whitfield said: If they're are sad and they want to cry, we're right there with them and we'll cry with them. Years after the Gross’ visit, the Fisher House is still making an impact on the family’s lives. Toni began volunteering. I just knew that I needed to give back and encourage others. I also knew that by giving back my spirit would be lifted.

I think that having women on the ticket, being the candidates for the opposition in this moment, does have the potential to only heighten that enthusiasm and engagement among women more so than it changes their vote, most of these women probably would have voted for a Democrat anyway -- but does it increase their overall engagement with the election itself ? Are they participating, going to the rallies, volunteering, giving more financial support -- all those levels of engagement ? I do think that is an outstanding question that we are all paying attention to.
