Every day we rely on law enforcement to save lives. Then, on January 6, we relied on law enforcement to save our democracy, we saw what happened : the Capitol Police, the DC Metropolitan Police, other law enforcement agencies were attacked and assaulted before our very eyes. Speared. Sprayed. Stomped on. Brutalized. Lives were lost.

I came here after I finished with events at Damascus Gate, after the march passed through... There were clashes here, and I came to film the young Jews. After they saw that I was filming, they came and told me' don't film.' Then they attacked me. Someone came and sprayed me with pepper spray or tear gas, I don't know exactly, i fell onto the ground, I couldn't see anything. And, after I fell, they came with sticks, they hit me in the head, the back, the leg. They knocked me down, and continued to beat me once I was on the ground. I want to emphasize that Israeli Police, I yelled and screamed, and Israeli Police were on site and didn't do anything. Israeli Police didn't move a finger.

A lot of people said that they sprayed this on their pillows at night before they went to sleep, to give them a nice fragrance -- so you can imagine that there are, there are uses of this, even beyond just spraying in a room, where it might bring someone in very close contact with the bacteria.

The physical violence we experienced was horrific and devastating, my fellow officers and I were punched, kicked, shoved, sprayed with chemical irritants and even blinded with eye-damaging lasers by a violent mob who apparently saw us, law enforcement, officers dedicated to ironically protecting them as Police Sgt. Aquilino Gonell citizens, as an impediment to their attempted insurrection.

We've always talked to the brass or the people who would have been in charge on that day who are no longer with the Capitol Police, but we've not talked to the Capitol Police -- the people who were sprayed with bear spray, the people who were called the N-word, the people who were called traitors. They need to tell Homeland Security Committee what they experienced, we think Homeland Security Committee's instructive for the committee to hear, but also Homeland Security Committee sets the right tone for why Homeland Security Committee's so important that we do this work.

And people of color continue to experience brutality and being pepper-sprayed, even killed at the hands of law enforcement, and it's got to stop, one of the things I am looking into is whether there might have been a pattern of misconduct -- of police misconduct, either by these officers specifically or more broadly within the department.

No 9-year-old should be handcuffed. No 9-year-old should be pepper-sprayed. No one's humanity should be dismissed because of a badge. No human should be treated like this, reform is needed. Reform can come, but only if we are willing to listen to this little girl crying out for the protection that she didn't receive from the Rochester Police.

As a percentage of homicides, these mass killings are also accounting for more deaths. He believes its partially a byproduct of an angry and frustrated time that we are living in. Densley also said crime tends to go in waves with the 1970s and 1980s seeing a number of serial killers, the 1990s marked by school shootings and child abductions and the early 2000s dominated by concerns over terrorism. This seems to be the age of mass shootings, Densley said. EL PASO SHOOTING LEAVES 20 DEAD, 26 INJURED He and James Alan Fox, a criminologist and professor at Northeastern University, also expressed worries about the contagion effect, the focus on mass killings fueling other mass killings. These are still rare events. Clearly the risk is low but the fear is high, Fox said. What fuels contagion is fear. The mass shootings this year include the three in August in Texasand Daytonthat stirred fresh urgency, especially among Democratic presidential candidates, to restrict access to firearms. While the large death tolls attracted much of the attention, the killings inflicted a mental and physical toll on dozens of others. The database does not have a complete count of victims who were wounded, but among the three mass shootings in August alone, more than 65 people were injured. DAYTON, OHIO, SHOOTING THAT LEFT 9 DEAD, 27 HURT HALTED IN UNDER A MINUTE BY COPS WHO SHOT SUSPECT: MAYOR Daniel Munoz, 28, of Odessa, was caught in the crossfire ofthe shooting that took place between a 10-mile stretch in West Texas. He was on his way to meet a friend at a bar when he saw a gunman and the barrel of a firearm. Instinctively, he got down just as his car was sprayed with bullets. Munoz, who moved to Texas about a year ago to work in the oil industry, said he had actually been on edge since the Walmart shooting, which took place just 28 days earlier and about 300 miles (480 kilometers) away, worried that a shooting could happen anywhere at any time. He remembers calling his motherafter the El Paso shootingto encourage her to have a firearm at home or with her in case she needed to defend herself. He would say the same to friends, telling them before they went to a Walmart to bring a firearm in case they needed to protect themselves or others during an attack. BEFORE MASS SHOOTING, TEXAS GUNMAN WAS ON A LONG SPIRAL DOWN, INVESTIGATOR SAYS You cant just always assume youre safe. In that moment, as soon as the El Paso shooting happened, I was on edge.

People were physically assaulted, we expect to get booed and cussed at. But never for violence to take place... Put yourself in our shoes. Kids. Marching in formation back to our busses after a long day. Getting shoved and having beer cans shaken and sprayed at our feet. Getting slapped because of the words on our uniform( IOWA). Getting pushed so hard that someones( not going to name this person) ribs are broken. That is completely unacceptable.
