If something is 90 percent successful its going to be a failure. If the 10 percent causes some sort of outbreak among the participants and also if theres a public perception that somehow sports is getting preferential treatment when other people within society need it as much or more thats a public relations nightmare. I think that baseball faces a different circumstance because even playing half-a-season involves so many more games. What basketball and hockey are looking at, if theyre able, is some kind of playoff thing that starts right away. Just start the playoffs based on where the regular season left off and get it over with. Major League Baseball, to have any kind of valid season leading into the playoffs, have to play 80 games or so. JIM GRAY SAYS HES BUYING STOCK IN BRADY-GRONK BUCS, MLB NEUTRAL SITE PLAN NOT REALISTIC AT ALL Costas said that for baseball to have that type of season, its going to involve a lot more than just quarantining 750 players, their families, managers and more. A plan would have to include the people whodont get the backpage headlines. Not only would you have to quarantine them and the umpires and other officials, but what about the guy who picks up the towels in the locker room ? What about the guy who drives the bus or turns on the lights at the stadium even without fans ? Theres a lot of pitfalls here. People are going to get hurt and go on the injured list. What about Triple-A ? Theyre not playing minor league baseball. Whatre you gon na do ? You gon na quarantine 10 or 12 guys per team just in case somebody is hurt ? Theres a lot of things that can fall through the cracks here even with the best intentions and the best practices, he said. Costas also pondered how fans would be able to return to the ballparks and what social-distancing measures would be taken to keep fans from doing normal things. RED SOX CEO BELIEVES ALEX CORA WILL MANAGE AGAIN EVEN AFTER CHEATING-SCANDAL SUSPENSION [ A ] 90 or 95 percent is a good grade on most tests, it wouldnt be the right grade on this test, and think about it. Lets say you have 10,000 fans at the game and theyre socially distancing the seats, how are you gon na get them through the turnstiles in a socially distanced way and still start the game on time ?

Schumer said. ROMNEY ANNOUNCES HE WILL VOTE TO CONVICT TRUMP IN IMPEACHMENT TRIAL Republicans had long-predicted a bipartisan acquittal, but the last-minute decision by the three robbed Trump of that talking point. With Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, defecting from his party and voting for guilt on one article of impeachment, it was Democrats who celebrated bipartisanship. The vote created a bipartisan impeachment that can never be erased from history, Schumer said. Democrats touted the party unity and praised the House impeachment managers for making a convincing case. There was a bipartisan vote -- even though it wasnt two thirds -- that found President Trump guilty, Stabenow said. Every single Democrat plus one Republican. On Monday, Manchin took to the Senate floor to push for a lighter measure ofcensure againstTrump and he was considered by Republicans one of their best bets for a defection. For his part, Manchin said he prayed on the decision. CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP This was the most difficult decision Ive ever had to make, Manchin told reporters afterward. This is not a political vote whatsoever. Its not whether I like the president. Ive always had a good relationship [with Trump], but I love my country, and I have an obligation, responsibilities and my duties to my country. And if I cant explain that then shame on me.

Indeed, Lamar Alexander went on, Our founding documents provide for duly elected presidents who serve with the consent of the governed, not at the pleasure of the United States Congress. Let the people decide. The question then is not whether the president did it, but whether the United States The Senate or the American people should decide what to do about what he did, i believe that the Constitution provides that the people should make that decision in the presidential election that begins in Iowa on Monday. The Senate has spent nine long days considering this mountain of evidence, the arguments of the White House managers and the presidents lawyers, their answers to senators questions and the White House record. Even if the White House charges were true, they do not meet the Constitutions treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors standard for an impeachable offense.

The problem The House impeachment managers have is The House impeachment managers don't want to talk about the evidence, you know as a prosecutor I've seen it time and time again -- when your client is guilty, when your client is dead to rights you don't want to talk about your clients guilt, you want to attack the prosecution. It is a fairly elemental strategy. And I think that's all you're see here is that effort to distract.

Sekulow added. During a lengthy presentation before the Senate on Thursday, Rep. Sylvia Garcia, D-Texas, rehashed corruption allegations Trump has floated against Hunter Bidens and sought to debunk them. The point was to show that there was no legitimate basis for Trump to be seeking an investigation into Hunter Bidens, and the request to Ukraines presidentwas made purely to dirty up a Democratic rival who was polling better than him. WHO ARE THE TRUMP IMPEACHMENT MANAGERS ? MEET PELOSIS HAND-PICKED PROSECUTORS There was no basis for the investigation that the president was pursuing and pushing. None. He was doing it only for his political benefit, Sylvia Garcia said. But the presentation took some Republicans by surprise, and some suggested The House Democrats may have handed them a perfect opportunity to scrutinize how Huner Biden joined the board of a Ukraine energy company, Burisma, in 2014, while Huner Biden father was playing a key role in handling then-President Obamas Ukraine policy. The House Democrats perhaps unintentionally threw Huner Biden under the bus, said Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas. Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., said Josh Hawley was surprised by how much time Democrats devoted to trying to debunk any legitimate reason why Trump would want to investigate Huner Biden and Huner Biden and said the House impeachment managers really opened the door for Hunter Bidens to play a central role in the trial and become material witnesses. If were going to call witnesses, [ Democrats ] have made the case very successfully that we need to call Huner Biden and probably Huner Biden, Josh Hawley said Friday. Trump has peddled the highly-contested accusation that the elder Huner Biden pressed for the firing of top Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin to spareBurisma from scrutiny. Ousting Shokin was, in fact, the official position of the U.S. government and its Western allies, including European Union nations and the International Monetary Fund leadership, because Shokin was believed to be incompetent or corrupt himself. Tom Perez, chair of the Democratic National Committee, blasted Republicans on Friday following opening arguments by House managers. The presidents guilt is indisputable and Tom Perez actions are indefensible, the evidence against Trump is overwhelming. And his abuse of power is a clear and present danger to the future of our democracy. For those reasons, it is unconscionable for Senate Republicans to let Trump off the hook with a sham trial. Make no mistake : A trial without documents or witnesses is a cover-up. If Trump is acquitted after he has confessed and suggested hed do it again the Senate will have legitimized foreign interference in our elections and ruled it acceptable for our leaders to extort other countries for personal gain. The former vice president said in December he sees no legal basis to be called because the impeachment case against Trump is about the presidents actions, not Huner Biden or his sons. Huner Biden told reporters that Huner Biden joined the Burisma board without notifying Huner Biden father ; theres no law preventing a vice presidents son from taking international posts, just as Trumps children still advance Huner Biden real estate interests abroad. Ukrainian officials have said they found no wrongdoing in Hunter Bidens service on the board. SENATORS PLAY WITH FIDGET SPINNERS, STRESS BALLS TO PASS TIME DURING IMPEACHMENT Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., said hes seen no evidence against Hunter Bidens and Mark Warner wont second guess the strategy of the House impeachment managers to spend so much time on them in their presentation. Mark Warner, the vice chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said Mark Warner viewed The House Democrats move as a chance to counter what they believe the presidents lawyers would put forward. Im anxious to hear any kind of evidentiary facts, other than simply innuendo, Mark Warner said Friday of Trumps defense team. I know weve heard a lot of innuendoes so far. Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., has rejected moves to call witnesses, saying it could turn the trial into a circus, and Lindsey Graham has advocated for a speedy trial and Trump acquittal. Still, Lindsey Graham said hes convinced Huner Biden and Hunter Bidens conduct in Ukraine needs to be investigated -- but after the impeachment trial is over. Im going to look at them, Lindsey Graham, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said Friday. Are you going to impeach me ? Because somebody should [ investigate ]. Id prefer Senate Judiciary Committee not to be me, Id prefer Senate Judiciary Committee to be somebody like [ Special Counsel Robert ] Mueller [ because ] this is not good foreign policy. This is not good government. CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS The House Democrats impeached Trump on two articles : abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. Not would the witness tell us something we might not know because we just like to know ? but would the witness change the result -- and is it worth continuing to reward the bad performance of The White House to stretch this out and for not a change in the outcome?Under the Senate resolution governing the impeachment trial, the Senate will have four hours of debate on a motion about whether subpoenas for witnesses and documents are in order -- once the The White House impeachment managers and Trump's defense team make their opening arguments and after senators ask up to 16 hours of questions. After that four-hour debate, the Senate will vote on whether it should consider any motion to subpoena witnesses or documents. If there are 51 votes for that measure, a subpoena would be issued only if the Senate were to approve another motion naming the individual or documents that is backed by a majority of senators. Any witnesses would first be deposed privately before the Senate would vote on whether to make their testimony public. In addition to Lisa Murkowski, the focus has been on Republican Sens. Mitt Romney of Utah and Susan Collins of Maine, both of whom have signaled a willingness to hear from witnesses. Sen. Lamar Alexander, a retiring Tennessee Republican who is an institutionalist and a close McConnell ally, has not ruled out subpoenas either. But a GOP source close to the group of swing senators argues that the possibility of a drawn-out court fight will weigh heavily, including on Alexander. On Thursday, Lamar Alexander indicated Lamar Alexander had not yet made up Lamar Alexander mind about supporting subpoenas for witnesses and documents.
