We are weary. We are tired. We have had enough gun violence in Louisville. We have had enough gun violence in our country and it is time to take action. And so as mayor, I know I will be working with elected officials … with clergy with anyone who wants to be a part of the solution to take whatever actions we can to encourage our state legislatures to take action to give us more tools to end gun violence.

The idea that Trump, Trumpism and anti-democratic authoritarianism are separate, or emanate from the Oval Office is the crisis, they're the same thing. And they've been alive and well in state legislatures, going back, certainly going back 40 years.

It demonstrates that the trend of this being sort of a hot button and top political issue in state legislatures is continuing. And also gives us reason to worry that the passage of these new restrictive laws may also continue.

I was right and everyone knows it, if there is fraud or large scale irregularities, it would have been appropriate to send those votes back to the legislatures to figure it out. The Dems and RINOs want to take The Dems and RINOs right away. A great opportunity lost, but not forever, in the meantime our Country is going to hell !

I think what the president was doing was raising the issue and highlighting that a lot of these bills that are being passed around the country by Republican legislatures on party-line votes could pose a problem in the 2022 election, especially if you look at some of the laws that would allow people to subvert the election or ignore the will of voters, i think that in his way, he was highlighting the fact that there are threats out there, and I think that those threats are real.

They want to make it to where candidates that you may not even agree with or approve get money from taxpayers. I mean, it's just ridiculous what they're trying to do here to federalize these elections when it's perfectly clear in our Constitution in Article Two, Section One, Clause Two that the state legislatures are given the right exclusively to set the voting laws in the states and in the union.

Fair Fight Action's work with dedicated voting rights activists throughout Georgia has led to enormous gains in voter registrations in our state -- particularly among voters of color, who have helped spearhead advocacy for critical federal voting rights legislation to protect our democracy while also blocking Republicans' most dangerous anti-voter proposals in state legislatures, now, with the GOP's voter suppression campaign ramping up in state houses across the country, Fair Fight Action is proud to join with Michelle Obama and When We All Vote alongside other civil and voting rights organizations to fight back against Republicans' anti-voter agenda. We're ready to work with our allies to recruit new volunteers and keep organizing Americans to push for the Senate to pass new federal protections for voting rights at a time when we need them more than ever.

It’s not conspiracy. They control the state legislatures, they changed the rules legally, so it was a legal, fair election. However, that doesn’t mean the rules weren't maximized by one party over the other party. That’s what I’m saying going into 2024. We need to make sure that we understand the rules as a Republican Party, and we use them fully to our advantage going forward in 2024, so that we're deploying the same assets in an election equally on each side of the aisle.

Stage legislatures were having difficulties sometimes with their executive office of the governors, they were fighting the federal government, whether it be with mandated lockdowns or implied mandated lockdowns...and having served in the state legislature in Arizona for a while, it seemed to me we spend so much time responding to federal issues, it would be good if we could get some synergy back and forth and open up communication that might be more direct between the Freedom Caucus and conservative members of Congress and the conservative members of the state legislatures, we grappled with how best to do that, and once we came to this idea that we should have state affiliated freedom caucuses, and then the question was how do you implement, how do you create the infrastructure to do that, and that's what we've been working on for quite some time.

President Biden’s weaponization of federal agencies against the interests of states is wrong and will only serve to sow more skepticism of the federal government. Whether it’s trying to force masks on kids in schools or trying to overturn state laws enacted by duly elected state legislatures, it’s wrong, as Montanans' attorney general, I will continue to fight alongside other attorneys general to fight the Biden administration’s meddling in our states’ affairs.

Redistricting... this federal bill would really take the politics out of it, which has been the problem when it comes to the maps. Especially at this juncture that we're at with redistricting with new numbers coming out from the Census and all of us getting ready for the process in state legislatures.

This is Jim Crow in new clothes, since the January election, some 250 voter suppression bills have been introduced by state legislatures all across the country – from Georgia to Arizona, from New Hampshire to Florida – [all] using the Big Lie of voter fraud as a pretext for voter suppression.

These attacks against trans youth in Arkansas and in states around the country will not go unchallenged — not while they are debated in legislatures, not after they pass, not when they are discussed in public conversation, our work will not be done until every law that targets transgender people is struck down as unconstitutional and all transgender people are able to live without fearing discrimination and violence because of who we are.

It's certainly possible that if qualified immunity went away, that would be an indication to law enforcement that legislatures were not protecting them, but I think that would be based on a myth as opposed to the way in which it actually functions on the ground.
