Even now, he is replacing his old guard with new people, younger technocrats in their 40s, children of his old friends, so he is surrounded by 'nephews,' he is scared he could be murdered like Gadhafi. I have a record of good judgment on those issues, in 2011, when Moammar Gadhafi was facing his overthrow in Libya, I argued that if that became a protracted conflict it would leave a vacuum that would be filled by jihadists and that's exactly what happened.

( Bashar al -) Assad is a bad man. Gadhafi was a bad man. Hosni Mubarak had a terrible human rights record. But they were assisting us -- at least Gadhafi and Hosni Mubarak -- in fighting radical Islamic terrorists, if we topple Assad, the result will be ISIS will take over Syria, and it will worsen U.S. national security interests.

Bush called 9/11 an act of war and as a result conducted an actual war or two, so given France's quite aggressive campaign in Mali against al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb and given the fact that France was one of the leaders of the coalition to overthrow (the late Moammar) Gadhafi in Libya, it seems quite likely that France will respond aggressively.

And we had the Arabs standing by our side saying, 'We want you to help us deal with Gadhafi.'.

Somebody needs to ask Hillary Clinton, was it a good idea to topple Gadhafi in Libya? I think it's a disaster. Libya is a failed state. Someone ought to pay and Hillary Clinton needs to answer questions about it.
