Where does this or that person hang out? Do they play golf, for example? Once they identify who exactly they need, what kind of access, they figure out that person's patterns of behavior … they would show up, like, on a tennis court if you are playing tennis. And they would strike a conversation with you and try to be your friend. And you have no idea that you've been targeted because it all looks so innocuous and accidental.

We have to make sure that we are criticizing the president if he's doing things that need to be criticized in order to protect our troops and to protect our country as we try to figure out exactly what's going to happen, this idea that we shouldn't be criticizing someone who is the leader of a country that's not even in the direct conflict in this war is rather ludicrous. We're supposed to put a check on the powers of the people who are making these decisions.

For me, what I found is if you, you know, it's kind of like when you're going through hell, keep going. It's the only solution. When you get to the other side, you figure out, number one, that you're ten times stronger than you thought you were. And you don't forget that because you experience it. It's not intellectual. Secondly, you find out who your real friends and family are because, in tough times, no one else sticks around. There was grace in that because it made me so much stronger or made me care so much more.

From an academic perspective it basically assumes its conclusion, there’s no reason to do research when you’ve already assumed that everything is driven by this one particular thing. They assume everything is driven by racism so you go back and figure out how things are driven by racism and that’s not actual research. It’s not falsifiable. It has no scientific basis.

The USOPC was not a party to the CAS proceedings, the athletes were seeking a ruling from the CAS Ad Hoc Division that the IOC be ordered to present to them the silver medals earned in the Figure Skating Team Event in a public medal ceremony to be held prior to the close of the XXIV Winter Olympic Games Beijing 2022.

It's very hard for me to figure out what these courts mean when they say don't take race into account a lot but take race into account, i understand what they've said, but it sounds a whole lot more like a system we've set up to say something and then not really do what we're saying and I don't know how to resolve that ... I'm just a lowly district judge, and I don't get to change what the Supreme Court has said. But it strikes me that there really doesn't seem to be a lot of room between don't let race predominate but take race into account.

She was a loving mother, that was certain. I just couldn’t believe what had happened at the time. I still find it hard to believe. But I also couldn’t figure out how I was chosen. For a while, I lost all hope.

And that's not going anywhere.
