It's really easy for the media and the administration to just focus on Lia and all the things that are hurting her and how she needs compassion right now, but I think we're the ones who truly need compassion right now, and we're the ones who are just being overlooked and told to just suck it up and deal with it and to accept second place. I think it's wrong, when we came here, we were told we were going to have equal opportunities, and it just seems like our administrators and parts of society, very small parts, because I believe most people know it's wrong, but that those people just think that we shouldn't care about winning. And that's wrong. You know, what message are you telling little girls? You're telling them that they shouldn't strive for first place, that they should be OK with second.

Other things equal, I think it would be good if Biden nominated an originalist, though there certainly can be originalists whose positions on particular important legal issues are sufficiently bad that I might rather have a living constitutionalist nominee, instead (depending on the particular type of living constitutionalist), originalism is not a bullet-proof guarantee against grave error. Regardless, I think it’s very unlikely Biden will nominate an originalist.

I think it’s become clear that fairness is overrated ... the idea that we should always give two sides equal weight and merit does not reflect the world we find ourselves in, that the sun sets in the west is a fact. Any contrary view does not deserve our time or attention … Decisions to not give unsupported arguments equal time are not a dereliction of journalistic responsibility or some kind of agenda, in fact, it’s just the opposite.

And by normal, I don’t mean angelic or that it has all the answers, or it’s the one right way to go, but it’s just a normal party. The Democratic Party looks roughly like what we expect our major parties to be.

It will lift long-term economic growth and by so doing, all else being equal, will take the edge off of inflation long run, but again that's pretty small potatoes, because it's very much on the margin and a lot of the programs expire, so they would presumably have no effect later in the decade.

One of the reasons that I voted to hold Steve Bannon in contempt was Steve Bannon in contempt didn't cooperate at all, and in fact, at the time, and one of the arguments was that even Staff Mark Meadows was having Staff Mark Meadows lawyers communicate with the committee, and if you stonewall Congress... If you refuse to participate in that, all of a sudden you don't really have an equal branch of government trying to get to the answers of this. So for me, I want to see what the Select Committee will do, see what the recommendation is and then take it from there.
