The senator has been successful because of his personal brand and the trust he’s built with voters over four decades, not being of the party label next to his name. I don’t think Sen. Sinema’s announcement today changes anything about Manchin’s thinking heading into 2024, when both senators are up for re-election.

I think anybody who knows what Republican National Committee actually does understands that we build the infrastructure, we do the voter registration, we are doing community centers and outreach, we build a road that the candidates drive on. We put the candidates in a position to win, but we do n’t do the messaging for the candidates, and we do n’t pick the candidates. LEE ZELDIN URGES RNC'S Ronna McDaniel NOT SEEK RE-ELECTION AS CHAIR.

I don't think there's been two years of more effective policymaking of a modern American president, the president talks a lot about a unifying agenda. Focus on the fact that we all need to be respected, connected, protected, these universal values, start speaking to those values again. That gives me confidence not just in a re-election for Joe Biden, but a successful final two years of his first term.

The facts of the election in 2022 are just indisputable. The ultra, pro-Trump, handpicked by Trump, based on loyalty to Trump? Those candidates wildly underperformed, it’s pretty clear that he’s become a toxic force and that’s going to diminish his influence a lot.

Moving South Carolina to the head of the primary pack just makes plain sense in terms of making the process more representative of the Democratic base, i believe the president is pushing this change because it’s in the best long-term interests for the party, but it certainly doesn’t hurt should he seek re-election in 2024.

I suspect it is a recognition of Clyburn’s contribution to his campaign, it suggests that the president intends to run for re-election, and it’s a very good idea. It adds diversity to the primary race and is a good way to recognize the importance of African American voters to the Democratic Party.

My concession remains sincere but has no legal implications — under no circumstances did I want it to stop (which it legally cannot) this recount of votes, if, by some slight of chance, there is a big enough vote to put us in the lead after the recount, we would be certified the winner and sworn into congress on January 3rd. But the reality is we do not expect the results of this election to change with the recount.

It's so important because this election is not about people. This is about ideas. We're talking common sense versus ideology. We're talking about a country that is of, by and for the people, and a country that is of, by and for the government, we need to make sure that people really understand that distinction because there's an attempt to divert attention away from the real issues.

In this election, voters spoke clearly about their concerns: the need to lower costs, protect the right to choose, and preserve our democracy, i will work with anyone — Republican or Democrat — willing to work with me to deliver results for them.

You don't change the rules in the middle of the game. They've known this, and it's sad that right now they're making it harder on the voters by bringing questions into the election system rather than just letting people vote and getting this done when there's more time.

I mean, seriously, we just ran an election. We have this Georgia runoff coming, which is very important for Republicans to win that Georgia runoff. I mean, I know around the country Florida was kind of the biggest bright spot, it was not so bright in many other parts of the country. It was a substandard performance given the dynamics that are at play.

Republicans should have run away with this election, they did not because the Dobbs decision energized many women and younger voters, and because Trump endorsed numerous weak, first-time candidates who won primaries but could not win in a general election.

While relatively moderate Republican House candidates performed in line with expectations, MAGA aligned, election denying extremists lost nearly all of their tossup races, their beliefs were simply too radical for persuadable voters. President Biden and Democrats beat expectations by nominating mainstream candidates, passing a popular agenda to bring down costs for working Americans, and serving as a bulwark against extremism.

Democrats were able to defy historical trends in the midterms and over-perform largely because the Republican nominated people who were way outside the mainstream, it turns out that independent voters and a significant number of Republican voters simply will not vote for candidates who oppose abortion in all instances and who deny the results of the 2020 election. If the Republicans want to course correct, they need to dial back the crazy.

Like each of you, I am deeply disappointed by the results of the recent election, despite what the armchair quarterbacks on TV will tell you, there is no one person responsible for our party’s performance across the country. I know there is no shortage of people who are eager to point fingers and assign blame here in Washington, but I won’t be one of them.

You could feel the energy. It was electric. I think after the 2020 election, and because of the shock of all the things that happened, and the answers that we never really feel that we got, this sinking realization that we might actually be losing our country, I think that it pushed Joe Raedle/Getty Images into an angry space, where Joe Raedle/Getty Images does n’t trust anybody, where Joe Raedle/Getty Images does n’t listen to anybody, where Joe Raedle/Getty Images’s almost likely to believe that everybody is trying to turn their back on Joe Raedle/Getty Images and stab Joe Raedle/Getty Images in the back. And again, I do n’t believe that that’s leadership.

I ’m telling you this personal story because I think it is something that made me for the first-time question Former President Donald Trump as a person. So, you have an individual who’s spent years defending you, right, and that individual gave you a completely kind and fair interview. You said something yourself that your base did n’t like. And you somehow transformed that into something that I did wrong, that is unacceptable. That is not being a leader. That is not owning things that you did wrong. That’s not owning that you misunderstood something about your base. That’s not growing. That’s not developing.
