Many of these counties are also the same locations where the Delta variant represents the large majority of circulating virus, low vaccination rates in these counties, coupled with high case rates -- and lax mitigation policies that do not protect those who are unvaccinated from disease -- will certainly, and sadly, lead to more unnecessary suffering, hospitalizations and potentially deaths.

Currently, approximately 1,000 counties in the United States have vaccination coverage of less than 30%, these communities, primarily in the Southeast and Midwest, are our most vulnerable. In some of these areas, we are already seeing increasing rates of disease. As the Delta variant continues to spread across the country, we expect to see increased transmissions in these communities, unless we can vaccinate more people now.

Many of the counties that have, like, really high vaccination rates also scored well on our food nutrition category. And those two things don't seem related( at first), what ends up happening is, years down the line when the public health authorities come to you and say,' Hey, we need you to wear masks' or' Hey, we need you to get this shot,' you think to yourself,' Well, of course. These people are invested in my health ; they've been investing in it every day. So I'm going to listen to them, and I'm going to trust them.'.

They will talk about most of the counties that got money had fewer than 25,000 people or that X percent of counties were Republican counties, but the key here is to follow the money. And the money went disproportionately to Democratic counties. In Georgia, more than 90 percent of the money went to those Democrat counties. And you could see from the spending per registered voter that it was not proportionate at all.

This election proves that rural Oregon wants out of Oregon, if Oregon really believes in liberal values such as self-determination, the Legislature wo n’t hold our counties captive against our will. If we’re allowed to vote for which government officials we want, we should be allowed to vote for which government we want as well.

A lot of the red counties, a lot of the Trump jurisdictions, particularly in the rural areas, got the minimum, they got $5,000. But if you’re a blue jurisdiction, we’re going to give you $10 million or $12 million or $15 million. Maybe they can truthfully and technically say they gave it to everyone that asked. The question is how much did they give? Where did they direct the majority of those funds?

If a majority are capable of preferring their own private interest, or that of their families, counties, and party, to that of the nation collectively, some provision must be made in the constitution, in favor of justice, to compel all to respect the common right, the public good, the universal law, in preference to all private and partial considerations... And that the desires of the majority of the people are often for injustice and inhumanity against the minority, is demonstrated by every page of history... To remedy the dangers attendant upon the arbitrary use of power, checks, however multiplied, will scarcely avail without an explicit admission some limitation of the right of the majority to exercise sovereign authority over the individual citizen... In popular governments [democracies], minorities [individuals] constantly run much greater risk of suffering from arbitrary power than in absolute monarchies...

I know it's changed a lot over the years, i'm really curious to see how it plays out with us going to rural America. I feel pretty confident going to places like L.A. and Chicago and playing here in Nashville, where I live. You know I'm curious to see how it is in the rural counties and such.

So there's a sensitivity practice and an experienced practice that people of color could bring in that was totally absent in the last four years.

We are also reaching out to all of the counties to explain why this matters, even if you can only do part to get started as early as humanly possible on Election Day matters, for every single county of any size. But certainly the more mail-in and absentee ballots they have, the more Election Day matters.
