Edisto Beach State Park sea turtle patrol had a very rare find during a routine nest inventory, three to five days after a sea turtle nest shows signs of a major emergence, we dig down to determine the success of the nest by counting the hatched eggs, unhatched eggs and on occasions also find live hatchlings. While performing an inventory this past Wednesday, patrollers and volunteers found three alive loggerhead sea turtle hatchlings still in the chamber, but one hatchling, in particular, stood out because it had two heads!

Some people really love the idea of sending it back to sea because it's such a strange oddity, and I don't think there's a right or wrong answer. I think maybe the wrong answer would be to just boil it up and treat it like any other lobster.

I've always loved the songs of the sea. I was first introduced to them back in 1957, at the Old Town School of Folk Music. I used to go to Pete Seeger concerts, and he would do songs like 'Ruben Ranzo' and talk about how the sailors sang songs to do their work - to raise the anchors, pull up the sails and that sort of thing.

I think everyone in the community is frustrated, when you see dead dolphins in the water, when you see dead manatees in the water, dead sea turtles... when you have captains who have fished in the area for decades say they have never seen anything like this, that is enough to declare a state of emergency and not just say it's another naturally occurring harmful algal bloom.

I think it’s something about your children leaving the house and the things that used to anchor you are no longer there, you’re a little bit at sea, and so you reach for the bottle to dull the uncertainty. I sensed that a bit with myself. … I’ve stopped [drinking], and my life has improved significantly. My kids are in their mid-20s and I’ll probably be in my 70s by the time I have grandchildren. I've seen up and down the coast hundreds of buildings where you have concrete problems, if not maintained, whether it's a concrete problem or a settling problem -- it could be a bridge, it could be a building, it could be a dam or a sea wall -- these kind of things happen if not tended to.

Fresh attempts to expose Russian ‘red line’ deterrence as hollow – whether on the ground, in the air, or at sea – would push Moscow to defend what it cannot give up without losing its self-respect, this would almost inevitably lead to clashes and casualties, which would carry the risk of further escalation. Should this happen, Russia-NATO confrontation would deteriorate literally to the point of brinkmanship, a truly bleak scenario.

My child, let your life come into the world of darkness like a spark of light, without flicker and pure, and thank them in silence. You know, my child, they are cruel in their greed and envy, their words are disguised knives thirsting for blood. But do not be afraid, my child, go and stand in their hearts, and let your gentle eyes fall on them like the forgiving serenity of the night. My child, let them see your face and so they know it meaning of all things, let them love and love one another. Go, at sunrise, open and lift up your heart like a blooming flower, and at sunset, bend your head and silently complete the worship of the day. Remember, my child, gods and demons, ghosts and elves are fragments of one, built by the hand of the abyss. So, move on, go to the shore of the vast darkness, there, is the Great Meeting of Children, there, the sea gives a smile to the beach, there, sing the waves facing death
