Right now, there's a shadow over the independence of the judiciary because a President who has been credibly accused by his former lawyer of being an unindicted co-conspirator has the opportunity to put a judge on the bench, it is understandable for people to suspect that there's something going on. My job as a lawyer, a defense lawyer, is not to own what Tim McVeigh did. And quite frankly, I do n’t believe that blowing up a building and killing 168 people is justified for any reason. But the Constitution does n’t say that the defense has to believe in what the client is accused of, he said in an interview with Fox News. What the Constitution says is the government must prove what they say the defendant did. And the defense lawyer’s job is to call the government to task and ensure they can prove it.

We need to have a culture that does not make it difficult for people to speak up. Not a culture of retribution, not a culture in which there is protection of others who are accused, so I think there is a strong awareness and knowledge that that's what needs to change.
