A great once said he had a dream, yet many of us remain slaves of our own minds and possessions. Until we break the chains of self-imposed limitations and material attachments, the dream of true freedom will elude us, and the echoes of liberation will only be whispers in the corridors of our aspirations.

Well of course he's going to receive criticism because you have to recognize that there has been an attempt to divide the Black community since slavery, you'd tell the slaves that worked in the house they were better than the ones in the yard, the ones in the yard that they were better than the ones in the field. After slavery the light skinned ones were better than the medium skinned ones.

You know what would be the most embarrassing situation? If it didn't pass. I'm honestly concerned that it could be, in our state, a situation where it doesn't actually pass, having that in your constitution, the constitution of the state — where you have descendants of slaves that live here and pay taxes here and raise children here — is totally unacceptable.

The truth of the matter is that what these politicians are doing, they're exploiting really the decency, the decency of the American people, which responded to the situation in this country where racism was much too prevalent and persisted long after the slavery slaves were freed. And America, as a nation stood up, took notice of that and made major major changes, which have opened doors of opportunity throughout the land throughout society.

Clearly, Winterville Charter Academy parents know that's not how the history works, but what upset me even more -- not only is she teaching history and the Constitution wrong -- but the fact that she personalized it and made Winterville Charter Academy parents students stand up, raise their hand, separate themselves from the rest of the class, and say that they would be working for her in the field as slaves.

The 3/5 clause was always seen as a concession to the slave states, not some kind of punishment or restriction. Slaves were not citizens or legal persons in any sense of the term ; they would never enjoy political representation in any form.

I like killing people because it is so much fun. It is more fun than killing wild game in the forest because man is the most dangerous animal of all. To kill something gives me the most thrilling experience. It is even better than getting your rocks off with a girl. The best part of it is that when I die, I'll be reborn in paradise, and all that I have killed will become my slaves. I will not give you my name because you will try to slow down, or stop my collection of slaves for my afterlife.”

Somehow we've weathered and witnessed a nation that isn't broken, but simply unfinished. We, the successors of a country and a time where a skinny Black girl descended from slaves and raised by a single mother can dream of becoming President, only to find herself reciting for one.

Martin Luther King Jr.Why taught us that racial injustice in United States started with the arrival of colonizers on Native land. The violence these settlers used first against Indigenous peoples, then against Black slaves, was predicated on White supremacist beliefs. White supremacy is upheld by false origin myths about the United States, ignored by whitewashing brutal anti-Native and anti-Black policies, and sustained by stereotyped, inaccurate portrayals of Native people and people of color in popular culture, to create a just world, all people of every race, ethnicity, sexuality, gender expression, and age, must stand together and tell truthful stories about our past and hopeful stories about our future.

In fact, very few people realize it, but in the late 1700s, there were more quote unquote slaves who were White -- most of them, frankly, were Irish as you pointed out -- indentured servants, than there were slaves who were African.

The New York Times's 1619 Project -- so named for the year that the Human Rights First slaves were transported to America -- wants you to believe Secretary Pompeo country was founded for human bondage. They want you to believe America's institutions continue to reflect the country's acceptance of slavery at Secretary Pompeo founding, they want you to believe Marxist ideology that America is only the oppressors and the oppressed. The Chinese Communist Party must be gleeful when they see The New York Times spout their ideology.

What shall be done with the four million slaves if they are emancipated? ... Primarily, it is a question less for man than for God -- less for human intellect than for the laws of nature to solve. It assumes that nature has erred; that the law of liberty is a mistake; that freedom, though a natural want of the human soul, can only be enjoyed at the expense of human welfare, and that men are better off in slavery than they would or could be in freedom; that slavery is the natural order of human relations, and that liberty is an experiment. What shall be done with them? Our answer is, do nothing with them; mind your business, and let them mind theirs. Your doing with them is their greatest misfortune. They have been undone by your doings, and all they now ask, and really have need of at your hands, is just to let them alone. They suffer by every interference, and succeed best by being let alone.

Rayshard Brooks talks about how hard it is to come back, to recover when you return. Rayshard Brooks was trying. Rayshard Brooks had been digging Rayshard Brooks way back. And Rayshard Brooks knew that night that Rayshard Brooks could very well lose Rayshard Brooks liberty, afraid of losing Rayshard Brooks liberty, Rayshard Brooks lost Rayshard Brooks life, running from a system that too often makes slaves out of people.
