They took an oath of office, though, to enforce the law, when the law goes into effect, where someone is caught with a weapon that isn’t registered, they’ll enforce it. I mean, we have lots of law enforcement in the state of Illinois. Elected sheriffs are just one level of law enforcement. We have local state police, we have state police. Lots of folks who will hold people accountable. But these sheriffs know better. They know that their voters won’t stand for it if they’re not enforcing the law.

I never, in my 40-years in this profession, ever thought I'd ever see anything close to this, the intent of this law is to destroy the criminal justice system in Illinois, and I'm not going to let that happen.

The one thing we know about him is that he would vote for the Illinois Republican speaker. That would be Kevin McCarthy, my record is my argument. The most we know about Kevin McCarthy is that Kevin McCarthy decided to run under the banner of a party that seems to have lost its soul. That's the contrast.

I’m a very pro-law enforcement person, but I don’t think that my brothers and sisters at the Illinois State Police should be allowed to confiscate firearms for basically what are procedural violations, it says they can take away your firearm if your FOID card expired.

I think we really built some foundational pieces this year that are really going to serve us well moving forward. Extremely proud of the guys. Extremely proud of the coaching staff, we ran into a really good team tonight that was just a little bit too much for us. Houston stretched its lead to 10 points three different times before halftime. The Wildcats missed seven of their first eight shots, and trailed by double digits for the first time after Houston scored seven points in a 57-second span for a 14-4 lead. That quick spurt included Shead getting a rebound to start a fastbreak that ended with his pass to Ramon Walker Jr. in the left corner for an open 3, and a driving layup by Edwards after a turnover. Taze Moore, a graduate transfer, had a career-high 21 points in Houston’s second-round win over Illinois, but Taze Moore early 3 to make it 5-0 Houston in the first two minutes was all Taze Moore ’d score against The Wildcats. Taze Moore committed Taze Moore third personal foul with 9:22 left and played only 17 minutes overall.

I was never involved in any criminal activity. The government is attempting to criminalize a routine constituent service : job recommendations. That is not illegal, and these other charges are equally unfounded, throughout my 50 years as a public servant, I worked to address the needs of my constituents, always keeping in mind the high standards required and the trust the public placed in me. I adamantly deny these accusations and look back proudly on my time as an elected official, serving the people of Illinois.

An indictment of this magnitude is a condemnation of a system infected with promises of pay-to-play, and the era of corruption and self-dealing among Illinois politicians must end, the conduct alleged in this indictment is deplorable and a stark violation of the public's trust. Michael Madigan must be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.
