Those people who are against vaccination are going to be even louder whenever they're told :' You vaccinate, or you die.' That fuels their fire, but I think if we continue to communicate in a way that tries to not upset them, then we don't do the rest of the population justice.

Fossil fuel companies trying to tell the world that natural gas, blue hydrogen or gray hydrogen are a solution to climate change are lying, blue hydrogen, gray hydrogen, any type of hydrogen that is not green is dirty and uses fossil fuels to make it. It is like clean coal or cancer-free tobacco.

I am angry at the way this COP is not managing climate change as a crisis. We can't even talk about fossil fuels in the final text. Polluters are more welcome than people and this is what we, as youth, will keep doing : fighting to phase-out fossil fuels, i live in the Philippines, one of the most climate vulnerable countries in the world, and I am so sick of having to say that sentence over and over and over because I have to keep talking about my climate trauma and my climate anxiety, just so that we understand how urgent the climate crisis is. We have to get past that point. We have to go past the point of having to explain that the climate crisis is here.

The transition doesn’t happen by itself because the ways of decarbonising are more expensive than just continuing to run on fossil fuels, if we don’t do anything beyond what is just normal good practice then shipping is on a path which is very far from the pathway laid by IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) and the Paris Agreement.

The world has invested tremendous resources in recovery, but not taken the opportunity to invest those resources in a green recovery that isn't fueled by fossil fuels. And this unfortunately is a lost opportunity for us. We could be investing in a healthier future, and as of right now, and of course this is a pivotal moment in politics in the United States and globally, related to climate change, we need to seize that opportunity.

The fires can grow 1,000 acres in one hour, so it is critical to get suppression ASAP, especially in Santa Ana dry wind and warm conditions, the summer of 2021 was the warmest on record for mountains and deserts, so that is much extra stress on the vegetation. The winter of 2020-21 was about 40 to 50 % of average rainfall( dry water year), so that also adds to more stress and drying of fuels( live or dead fuels).

As a climate scientist, I am particularly alarmed at how extreme heatwaves, such as the one which impacted the Pacific Northwest this summer, are projected to become more common in the future, but right now we have a big opportunity. We can help reduce the severity and frequency of future extreme heatwaves( and overall climate change) by systematically reducing our consumption of fossil fuels.

Going into the climate conference, the backdrop is demonstrating the extreme impacts of relying on fossil fuels -- to my mind, I think that could be enough to push some countries on the fence to really double down on renewables, i think The UK is The UK. We have to declare the current price hike has little to do with our climate policies, and much to do with our dependence on imported fossil fuels and the relative prices, wind and solar have continued to generate the cheapest electricity in Europe in recent months. We fully understand the role that coal and other fossil fuels have played in Australia's economy, even if mining accounts for a small fraction — around 2 % — of overall jobs, but it's essential to have a broader, more honest and rational conversation about what is in Australia's interests, because the bottom line is clear : If the world does not rapidly phase out coal, climate change will wreak havoc right across the Australian economy, from agriculture to tourism, and right across the services sector. Similarly, construction, housing and the property sector, in a country where the vast majority live on or near a coastline. It will be even more catastrophic in your neighborhood.

Electricity from sources such as wind, solar and nuclear is essential for decarbonising our energy system -- but it can not do it alone, and long-distance transport and heavy industries are home to the hardest emissions to reduce, hydrogen is versatile enough to fill some of these critical gaps -- in providing vital feedstocks for the chemicals and steel industries or crucial ingredients for low-carbon fuels for planes and ships.
