The administration has both announced policies that would reduce domestic oil demand over the long term, and asked OPEC to produce more oil in the short term, this shows how policymakers have to walk a fine line between keeping fossil fuel prices low and offering policy pathways on the energy transition.

Well, I'm not Joe Biden, i like Joe Biden. But I'm not Joe Biden. I'm a progressive who believes that the Democratic Party should make it clear that we are prepared to take on powerful special interests, like the drug companies, like the insurance companies, like the fossil fuel industry, that we have to demand that the wealthy start paying their fair share of taxes.

Like a plastic cup, those emails are also contributing to emissions. They're building up somewhere, just not in your home, but in new data centers built over the world, people are worried about single use cups, but actually they( plastics and data) are both fossil fuel-based at the moment.

We went to Wilmington in June to send JPMorganChase a message - 15 of us elders were arrested in front of their credit card headquarters in rocking chairs. At that time we were demanding that Chase quit funding fossil projects. We at Occupy Biden had the same message - we called on President Biden to declare a climate emergency and to end all new fossil projects.

The positions put out initially by the European Commission looked to push fossil gas infrastructure down the back road, and try to avoid it as much as possible, but it looks like the gas industry -- after such a long fight -- has managed to weaken the sustainability criteria in its favor. And that essentially secures the role of fossil gas and its long-term energy future. This is in the The EU, which is supposed to be a policy leader when it comes to climate.

Fossil fuel companies trying to tell the world that natural gas, blue hydrogen or gray hydrogen are a solution to climate change are lying, blue hydrogen, gray hydrogen, any type of hydrogen that is not green is dirty and uses fossil fuels to make it. It is like clean coal or cancer-free tobacco.

I am angry at the way this COP is not managing climate change as a crisis. We can't even talk about fossil fuels in the final text. Polluters are more welcome than people and this is what we, as youth, will keep doing : fighting to phase-out fossil fuels, i live in the Philippines, one of the most climate vulnerable countries in the world, and I am so sick of having to say that sentence over and over and over because I have to keep talking about my climate trauma and my climate anxiety, just so that we understand how urgent the climate crisis is. We have to get past that point. We have to go past the point of having to explain that the climate crisis is here.

The presence of hundreds of those being paid to push the toxic interests of polluting fossil fuel companies, will only increase the skepticism of climate activists who see these talks as more evidence of global leaders' dithering and delaying, the scale of the challenge ahead means there is no time for us to be diverted by greenwashing or meaningless corporate promises not matched by delivery. It's time for politicians to show they are serious about ending the influence of big polluters over political decision-making and commit to a future where expert and activist voices are given center stage.

The rather conservative International Energy Agency itself has said there can be no new fossil fuel infrastructure if we are to avert dangerous warming. And the G7 nations committed to phasing out coal and ending support for new coal projects earlier this summer, we need to see similar commitments from the G20 countries, including an accelerated schedule for phasing out coal.

The transition doesn’t happen by itself because the ways of decarbonising are more expensive than just continuing to run on fossil fuels, if we don’t do anything beyond what is just normal good practice then shipping is on a path which is very far from the pathway laid by IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) and the Paris Agreement.

The world has invested tremendous resources in recovery, but not taken the opportunity to invest those resources in a green recovery that isn't fueled by fossil fuels. And this unfortunately is a lost opportunity for us. We could be investing in a healthier future, and as of right now, and of course this is a pivotal moment in politics in the United States and globally, related to climate change, we need to seize that opportunity.

As a climate scientist, I am particularly alarmed at how extreme heatwaves, such as the one which impacted the Pacific Northwest this summer, are projected to become more common in the future, but right now we have a big opportunity. We can help reduce the severity and frequency of future extreme heatwaves( and overall climate change) by systematically reducing our consumption of fossil fuels.
