[T]he long-term solution is to dismantle, not reform, the iron fist of the welfare state and the controlled economy. This includes the end (not the reform) of the IRS, the DEA, the BATF, the SEC, the FDA, HUD, the departments of HHS, Labor, Agriculture, and energy, and every other agency that takes money from some and gives it to others or interferes with peaceful behavior.

However, if the Pride board does not reverse its decision, I will join our city public safety departments that are not participating in The Seattle Pride Parade.

Parents have spent years battling the government to take their hands off our children, their response, after accusing us of terrorism is to create a council to formally come between parents and children? That's how I see it. I do not trust that Secretary Cardona has suddenly had a change of heart.Parents don’t need the federal government (sic) or local government showing us how to engage on behalf of our children. If anything, the federal government should be instructing school boards and departments of education to honor the oath they took to listen to their constituents.

I think the more the pandemic is in the rearview mirror for some people -- or they believe it is -- then the less compelled they will be to do this, and so we have a big public health education campaign ahead of us, also, health departments at the local level will be looking to understand the landscape of their community in terms of how many providers, pediatricians and pharmacies have actually signed up to give out the vaccine.

But if they can compare themselves to another rural county, they might be able to find more and more programs like themselves, those are the places where having everything compiled in a CDC location allows us to explore the possibility for expanding partnership outside of just one state with the similarities around county size and jurisdiction size and population type and infrastructure set-up.

Since I've been mayor, I've asked for and we have 40 more police in our department, almost all of them on patrol, and during [spring break season] we recruit officers from the county, from other departments, we pay for them, so it's a pretty massive deployment of local law enforcement, but that's always the best you can do, because it's something organic, and finding a way to get rid of it short of a curfew has been very difficult.

I think that it's that's been missing in the United States for a long time, in America, we tend to think of crime as purely the purview of police departments, and I don't think that's really… law enforcement can't do everything. They need the community to be in there with them on these things. So funding some community-based efforts like violence, interruption programs, I think is a really, really good first step.
