When you look at impeaching the president, the Constitution has some very specific requirements. It says when the president is impeached, the chief justice shall preside, and to me, this is one of the shocking things. When we showed up and we found out that yes, Chuck Schumer had called Justice Roberts -- and this hasn't been reported widely, but he did -- and Justice Roberts said heck, no, I'm not going to cross the street because you're not impeaching the president.

If we are about to try to impeach a president, where is the chief justice? If the accused is no longer president, where is the constitutional power to impeach him? impeachment is for removal from office and the accused here has already left office. So I think that, in the end, I have no regrets about how things turned out. Yes, I left the military unforeseen. I had every intention staying on -- going on to war college. But I think my role may have been, in certain ways, more important in that I was able to do my part -- defend this nation in a very meaningful manner and expose corruption by the chief executive.
