I have to tell you it's been Baltimore that's been chopped at and bitten at in 1990 and 2000 and 2010 and here we go now in 2020. So the city can't give anymore. It's got to have some sort of unification where communities have a semblance of having things in common and having the same sort of goals and aspirations, the counterargument is if you've got three people representing the city that the city is stronger. The argument to that is if you've got three people doing that, they're also representing other areas at the same time.

I think that' locked and loaded' is a broad term and talks about the realities that we're all far safer and more secure domestically from energy independence, this is not the 1970s oil embargo. It's not 1990, when Iraq invaded Kuwait. We're now a net oil exporter, which means that the American market is much better protected.

i, ras cardo created reggae in my 1962 trench town yard. I have the details of all those present at the time. I did say:- reggae is rastafarian prophecy and message giving. It aims to unite people in a loving way so we can stop all this hatred and this killing stuff. I think the music industry is trying to take that spirit out of it and really secularize it- told to the -atlanta journal news writer- steve dollar. Enter the doors from the very first Ben Franklin store. According to Alan Dranow, the doors were kept for decades in a warehouse by Gene Ivy, co-owner of the Arkansas-based contractor Ivy Brothers Construction. The company was charged with renovating Walton’s first store in Newport in the 1960s -- and the original doors have been kept in storage since then. Gene Ivy kept the doors in Gene Ivy garage after Gene Ivy retired. When Gene Ivy died in 2014, one of his grandchildren contacted a Walmart Museum employee about what to do with salvaged store relics. The Walmart Museum, which first opened in 1990 as the Walmart Visitor Center, was more than happy to take in the prized store relics this summer. But Alan Dranow admits the doors have seen their share of wear and tear. Because Walton’s store was so popular Sam Walton had more traffic than anybody. The door is worn on the side where you push to get in.

When the controversy erupted in 2006, Keith Ellison acknowledged Keith Ellison had worked with the group, but only for 18 months to help organize Farrakhan's 1995 Million Man March. Keith Ellison distanced Keith Ellison from both Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam, and said Keith Ellison had n’t scruitinized the group's anti-Semitic positions appropriately. They were and are anti-Semitic, and I should have come to that conclusion earlier than I did, Keith Ellison said. Yet it is n’t the only controversy for Keith Ellison. In 2007, Keith Ellison made a comparison between Bush and 9/11 to Hitler and the 1933 Reichstag fire. 9/11 is the juggernaut in American history and it allows... it's almost like, you know, the Reichstag fire, after the Reichstag was burned, they blamed the Communists for it, and it put the leader of that country [ Hitler ] in a position where he could basically have authority to do whatever he wanted. He later clarified that he did indeed believe that Usama bin Laden was responsible for the terror attacks. But it was n’t the only controversy for Ellison in 2007, as he also backed a movement to impeach then-Vice President Dick Cheney over his alleged fabrication of intelligence about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. However, Brad Bannon believes that Ellison’s Muslim heritage could be a boost not a burden, especially in light of Trump’s elevation Sunday of controversial Breitbart boss Steve Bannon to chief strategist.

In 1997 we were the fastest growing manufacturing metro area in the country and four years later it collapsed, what you can see on the ground today is 3,000 job openings. China's emergence as the world's low-cost producer and export superpower following its World Trade Organization entry in 2001 dealt a heavy blow to traditional industrial communities such as Hickory. Economists David Autor, David Dorn and Gordon Hanson have tried to separate the impact of trade from other factors affecting U.S. manufacturing employment and they estimate that between 1990 and 2007 Hickory lost 16 percent of its manufacturing jobs just due to surging imports from China. DEEP SCARS. Buffeted by other headwinds, such as the 1994 North American Free Trade agreement and the lifting of textile quotas in 2004, the area lost 40,000 manufacturing jobs overall, half the total, between 2000 and 2009. Nationally, more than 5 million manufacturing jobs have disappeared since 2000, a period that also included the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression. The collapse left deep and still visible scars that help explain the appeal of Trump's pledge to bring back manufacturing's glory days. In Hickory, disability rolls soared more than 50 percent between 2000 and 2014, swollen by older workers who struggled to return to the workforce. At the same time, the share of the 25-34 year old in the population fell by almost a fifth between 2000 and 2010. Consequently, even as the unemployment rate tumbled from a peak above 15 percent in 2010 to 4.6 percent today, below the national average, so did the labor force participation rate. Rust belt states, such as Michigan, Indiana and Ohio that may prove pivotal in the Nov. 8 presidential election, have been adding manufacturing jobs faster than the economy as a whole. Michigan, for example, which lost nearly half of its manufacturing jobs between 2000 and 2009, has since then seen a 25 percent rise, well above the 4 percent gain nationally. Manufacturing employment there is still well below the levels in the 1990s. Economists debate whether returning to that level is realistic given technological advances that have reduced manufacturing's share of the workforce from a high of above 30 percent in the 1950s to around 8 percent today. But they also feel that have already seen the bottom, particularly when it comes to China's impact.
