Wikipedia

  1. with respect to

Dependent and independent variables are variables in mathematical modeling, statistical modeling and experimental sciences. Dependent variables are studied under the supposition or demand that they depend, by some law or rule (e.g., by a mathematical function), on the values of other variables. Independent variables, in turn, are not seen as depending on any other variable in the scope of the experiment in question. In this sense, some common independent variables are time, space, density, mass, fluid flow rate, and previous values of some observed value of interest (e.g. human population size) to predict future values (the dependent variable).Of the two, it is always the dependent variable whose variation is being studied, by altering inputs, also known as regressors in a statistical context. In an experiment, any variable that can be attributed a value without attributing a value to any other variable is called an independent variable. Models and experiments test the effects that the independent variables have on the dependent variables. Sometimes, even if their influence is not of direct interest, independent variables may be included for other reasons, such as to account for their potential confounding effect.

Examples of with respect to in a Sentence

  1. Thiruman Archunan:

Originally, God was to save individual mind from despair if not disaster, love was an attempt by one mind to possess another mind and justice was a mind's concern for all other minds. In case of the first, mind is too weak and fearful to understand itself. In the second, the nature cripples the reason and over powers human mind! In the third situation, the reason is more evolved and makes the human mind to stand on its own and does what best is possible with respect to other minds!

  2. Lena Komileva:

It's a little more complicated than it used to be. The shape of the yield curve today is very much a function of global central bank activity - negative rates and quantitative easing. This changes the mechanics of the yield curve with respect to pure growth and inflation signals, but it does suggest a capitulation in investor confidence in the ability of central banks to reflate global growth or prevent another downturn. And that's not a good confidence signal.

  3. Adam Schiff:

If he's going to make accusations of criminality of anyone, he needs to show evidence to support that kind of a charge, obviously, that's not something he was either able or willing to do with respect to his accusations against Obama. It's not something I suspect he's going to be able to do with Susan Rice either.

  4. John Malone:

We’ve looked at that from our side and there would be very substantial synergies if we could find a way to work together or combine the companies with respect to western Europe, there’s the promise of creating enormous shareholder value if we could work it out.

  5. Novak Djokovic:

I had a telephone conversation with the leaders of world tennis. There were talks about the continuation of the season, mostly about the U.S. Open due in late August, but it's not known whether it will be held, the rules that they told us that we would have to respect to be there, to play at all, they are extreme. We would not have access to Manhattan, we would have to sleep in hotels at the airport, to be tested twice or three times per week.
