Vaid is a surname that belongs to the Mohyal Brahmin community. Mohyal Brahmins are Punjabi Brahmins who originally belonged to the Ghandhara region which is now known as Pakistan and Afghanistan. Mohyal Brahmins are the distinct Brahmins as they kept themselves away from priestly activities, evil practices like untouchability and didn't believe in other similar taboos.
