Uttoxeter ( (listen) yoo-TOK-sit-ər, locally also UTCH-it-ər) is a market town and civil parish in the East Staffordshire district in the county of Staffordshire, England. It is near to the Derbyshire county border. The town is situated 14 miles (23 km) from Burton upon Trent via the A50 and the A38, 14 miles (23 km) from Stafford via the A518, 16 miles (26 km) from Stoke-on-Trent via the A50, and 20 miles (32 km) from Derby via the A50 and the A38, and 11.3 miles (18.2 km) north-east of Rugeley via the A518 and the B5013. The population was 13,089 at the 2011 Census.The town's literary connections include Samuel Johnson and Mary Howitt.

Uttoxeter is a market town and civil parish in Staffordshire, in the West Midlands region of England. The population of the town is increasing. At the 1991 census the population was given as 10,329, with a 16.4% increase by the 2001 census when the population was 12,023. It is likely that this figure will increase further, as the population of East Staffordshire as a whole is predicted to increase by some 11% between 2008 and 2028. Uttoxeter lies close to the River Dove in the Borough of East Staffordshire, and is near the cities of Stoke-on-Trent, Derby and Lichfield. It is twinned with Raisdorf in Germany and Fumel in France.

market-town of Staffordshire, 14 m. NE. of Stafford; has sundry manufactures and brewing; here Dr. Johnson did public penance, with head uncovered, as a man, for want of filial duty when, as a boy, he refused to keep his father's bookstall in the market-place when he was ill.
