  1. Ted Kennedy

Edward Moore "Ted" Kennedy was a United States Senator from Massachusetts and a member of the Democratic Party. He was the second most senior member of the Senate when he died and was the fourth-longest-serving senator in United States history, having served there for almost 47 years. As the most prominent living member of the Kennedy family for many years, he was also the last surviving son of Joseph P. Kennedy, Sr.; the youngest brother of President John F. Kennedy and Senator Robert F. Kennedy, both victims of assassination; and the father of Congressman Patrick J. Kennedy. Kennedy entered the Senate in a November 1962 special election to fill the seat once held by his brother John. He was elected to a full six-year term in 1964 and was reelected seven more times before his death. The Chappaquiddick incident on July 18, 1969, resulted in the death of his automobile passenger Mary Jo Kopechne. Kennedy pleaded guilty to a charge of leaving the scene of an accident and the incident significantly damaged his chances of ever becoming President of the United States. His one attempt, in the 1980 presidential election, resulted in a Democratic primary campaign loss to incumbent President Jimmy Carter.

Examples of ted kennedy in a Sentence

  1. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush:

I mean, Ted Kennedy and Stephen Hayes the journalist and Cat Stevens -- I mean, this is not a list that you can be certain of, if the FBI knows that someone's in our country and they're tracking them, they shouldn't be able to get guns for sure. But the no-fly list is a much broader list. It's not an accurate list to be able to use for restricting gun rights for law-abiding citizens.

  2. Jesse Lehrich:

It turns out that if you put Jeb Bush in the right room, he talks like Ted Kennedy. Put him somewhere else and he's the 'head-banging conservative' he once declared himself, maybe he doesn't realize how much has changed in the 13 years since he last ran for public office, but these days, the cameras are always rolling — and flagrant pandering isn't a good look.

  3. President Barack Obama:

While he was seen by his fiercest critics as a partisan lightning rod, that's not the prism through which Ted Kennedy saw the world, nor was it the prism through which his colleagues saw Ted Kennedy.

  4. Jim Dicke:

I support it, look, if Ronald Reagan didn't take the nomination away from Gerald Ford, and Ted Kennedy couldn't take the nomination away from Jimmy Carter, there is no way that a sitting president in the 21st century is going to be denied the nomination for a second term from his party if he wants it.

  5. Mark Krikorian:

I don’t think Ted Kennedy was lying.
