1. Tatsuro Yamashita

   Tatsurō Yamashita (山下 達郎, Yamashita Tatsurō, born February 4, 1953), occasionally credited as Tatsu Yamashita or Tats Yamashita, is a Japanese singer-songwriter and record producer who helped pioneer the style of Japanese adult-oriented rock/soft rock dubbed "city pop". Yamashita has produced the majority of his music since the 1970s and is considered an important contributor to Japanese music. He has also collaborated with his wife Mariya Takeuchi, another Japanese singer.He was a symbol of Japanese outdoor music, as represented by "RIDE ON TIME" and "FOR Y–OU" in the early 1980s. However, he himself hates being generally accepted as a summer tradition, and even after his music became well-known, he continues to send good pop songs to Japanese hit charts regardless of the season.His most well-known song in Japan is "Christmas Eve". The song first appeared on his album "MELODIES", released in 1983, and has since been sold in small quantities as a limited edition single every Christmas season. However, for several years from 1988, after being selected as a commercial song for JR Central's "X'mas Express", it became a hit song until it reached the top of the chart for the first time in 1990. Since that time, it has been ranked in the top 100 on the Japanese charts for each Christmas season, making it a top Christmas song in Japan. Over its nearly 30 year history, it has sold nearly 2 million songs, and it is the best-selling single song released in Japan in the 1980s.Since the hit of "RIDE ON TIME", it has maintained some popularity. By winning the top of the album ranking when the latest original album "Ray of Hope" was released at the moment, it won the top record of the album for four consecutive years from the 1980s. This is a rare existence in Japan.In 2003, HMV japan ranked him 6th in the Top 100 Japanese pops Artists.He is also called a "sound craftsman" because of his commitment to music making and his unique production.
