Svedka
Svedka is a mid-priced Swedish brand of vodka, manufactured in Lidköping, Sweden and owned by New York-based Constellation Brands. The product name is a portmanteau of the words Sverige or Svenska ("Sweden" and "Swedish" respectively in the Swedish language) and "vodka". The spirit is 80 proof (40% alcohol). A one-liter bottle is produced using about 1.5 kg of wheat and spring water. Svedka is bottled unflavored, as well as in citron, cherry, clementine, raspberry, vanilla, blue raspberry, and piña colada flavors. It is manufactured by the Swedish farmer's co-op Lantmännen on behalf of Constellation. Svedka was acquired by Constellation Brands in March 2007 for US$384 million. They made some "spooky internet advertisements" for Halloween in 2017.Although claiming to be free of animal use, it might use animal products as "fining agents", and is therefore perhaps not truly vegan, although, they might have claimed that the animal products are filtered out, and not present in the final product. The company is rumored to have been sued multiple times by vegans for such false claims. They have apparently not responded to requests for clarification. Svedka Vodka was in 2008 described as "fast growing", as it added a new flavor, "Citron", Swedish for lemon.
