Shudra
Shudra or Shoodra (Sanskrit: Śūdra) is one of the four varnas of the Hindu caste system and social order in ancient India. Various sources translate it into English as a caste, or alternatively as a social class. Theoretically, class serving other three classes. The word caste comes from the Portuguese word casta. The word Shudra appears in the Rig Veda and it is found in other Hindu texts such as the Manusmriti, Arthashastra, Dharmashastras and Jyotishshastra. In some cases, shudras participated in the coronation of kings, or were ministers and kings according to early Indian texts.

shudra
The term "Shudra" is a designation for the lowest rank within the traditional Vedic caste system in India, primarily consisting of farmers, laborers, and service providers. The caste system, with its hierarchy that includes four major classes or Varnas, has been a significant feature of Hindu religion and social structure, with Shudras classically positioned as the fourth and lowest Varna in this system. Although they have been traditionally associated with menial and servile professions, their exact roles and privileges have evolved and diversified over time. Note, the caste system has been criticized internationally and is banned in India, but its influences can still be seen in some aspects of Indian society today.

Shudra
Shudra is the fourth Varna, as prescribed in the Purusha Sukta of the Rig veda, which constitutes society into four varnas or Chaturvarna. The other three varnas are Brahmins; Kshatriya, and Vaishya. According to this ancient text, the Shudra perform functions of serving the other three varna. The varna system became rigid in the later Vedic period. In modern Indian society, the government is taking steps to end the differences between various castes.
