  1. Separation of powers

The separation of powers, often imprecisely used interchangeably with the trias politica principle, is a model for the governance of a state. The model was first developed in Ancient Greece and Rome. Under this model, the state is divided into branches, each with separate and independent powers and areas of responsibility so that no branch has more power than the other branches. There is, of course, nothing precluding the vice president should he decide to come before Congress, and I would hope given the severity of the issues we're addressing here and attack on our capital, and attack on our very democracy, that he would be willing to come in.
