  1. Screens

Screens is the third studio album from Portland, Oregon-based "troublegum" group The Mint Chicks and thus far the only Mint Chicks release not to feature bassist Michael Logie. It was released on March 16, 2009 in New Zealand, The Mint Chicks' homeland on Flying Nun Records. It was mixed in Portland, Oregon by the Nielson brothers and Jacob Portrait, with additional mixing by Chris Nielson in Auckland, New Zealand. The album's first single was "I Can't Stop Being Foolish". Sam Peacocke, the New Zealand music award winning director responsible for the band's videos for "Walking Off a Cliff Again" and "Crazy? Yes! Dumb? No!" filmed a new video for the single, which hit number 1 on the bFM chart on February 4, 2009 and stayed at this position for 2 weeks. On December 25, 2008, an EP called Mintunes was offered for free download on The Mint Chicks' website including 8-bit versions of four songs to appear on Screens, including the then-unreleased "Red, White or Blue" and "Screens". On December 20, 2008, a video for "Enemies" made by band member Ruban Neilson appeared on The Mint Chicks' website, YouTube and Vimeo. On January 1, 2009, a similar video for the track "Life Will Get Better Some Day" created by Kody Neilson was released on YouTube.

Examples of screens in a Sentence

  1. Emily Brignone:

Maybe there are ways we can improve screening protocols and get them into care more quickly, but not everyone who screens positive is going to want or get care, i think additional research is definitely in order.

  2. Daniel Ives:

The bigger screens on iPhone 6 have been selling like hot cakes.

  3. Frederic Neumann:

I don't think the market has priced in the fall in LNG prices that may come on the heels of the collapse in oil prices. It's not on people's radar screens yet.

  4. J. William Fulbright:

To me, the irony of this involvement with size, as I observed earlier, is the unwillingness or inability of so many Americans to identify themselves with something as vast as the United States. Bigger cars, bigger parking lots, bigger corporate structures, bigger farms, bigger drug stores, bigger supermarkets, bigger motion-picture screens. The tangible and the functional expand, while the intangible and the beautiful shrink. Left to wither is the national purpose, national educational needs, literature and theater, and our critical faculties. The national dialogue is gradually being lost in a froth of misleading self-congratulation and cliche. National needs and interests are slowly being submerged by the national preoccupation with the irrelevant.

  5. Mel Gibson:

I look at them and scratch my head. I’m really baffled by it. I think there’s a lot of waste, but maybe if I did one of those things with the green screens I’d find out different, it seems to me that you could do it for less … You’re spending outrageous amounts of money, $180 million or more, I don’t know how you make it back after the tax man gets you, and after you give half to the exhibitors. What did they spend on 'Batman v Superman' that they’re admitting to?
