Dissolvent of the stone.
Etymology: saxum and frago, Latin.
Because goat’s blood was found an excellent medicine for the stone, it might be conceived to be able to break a diamond; and so it came to be ordered that the goats should be fed on saxifragous herbs, and such as are conceived of power to break the stone. Thomas Browne, Vulgar Errours.
