Salwan
Salwan is a village of high historical interest in Karnal District,and one of the biggest village in karnal,and 3rd of Haryana, India. It contains a tirtha identified as having national importance. The major population of the area are Raghav(clan) from Rajput caste.The Rajputs are a martial race and caste of the Indian subcontinent. They are a Hindu caste whose members generally consider themselves to belong to the Kshatriya ("warrior") varna (division of society); however, Encyclopædia Britannica notes that their members have come from a variety of lineages.The Suryavanshi lineage, claiming descent from Surya, the Hindu Sun god. In English it is known as the Solar Dynasty The village was the subject of much media attention in 2007, when the beating death of a Rajput man was followed by a wave of violence directed toward local dalits. About 150 lower-caste families fled the village.
