A pirate ship is a type of vessel that is operated by pirates, individuals who engage in acts of piracy. This ship is typically used for maritime warfare and is equipped with weapons such as cannons and firearms. Pirate ships in history were often fast and nimble, designed to outrun other vessels, capture cargo, and facilitate boarding and robbery. They were also designed for durability and long sea voyages. Depictions of pirate ships in popular culture usually include elements such as a black flag with a skull and crossbones design, known as the Jolly Roger.
