physicalism
Physicalism is a philosophical position holding that everything in existence, including mental states and consciousness, can be explained and accounted for by physical properties, phenomena, or processes. It denies the existence of non-physical aspects of reality and argues that all phenomena, including thoughts, emotions, and ideas can be reduced to, or are determined by, physical matter. Physicalism advocates for a universe that is entirely modeled by physical principles and laws.

Physicalism
Physicalism is a philosophical theory holding that everything that exists is physical, that is, that there are no things other than physical things. Physicalism is often called "materialism", though some attempt to draw a distinction between the two. The term "physicalism" was coined by Otto Neurath in a series of early twentieth century essays on the subject: In contemporary philosophy, physicalism is frequently associated with the mind-body problem in philosophy of mind. This view responds to the challenge of the mind-body problem by claiming that mental states are ultimately physical states, or that mental states supervene on physical states, or that all mental states are necessitated by physical states. These physical states are usually thought to be states realized by the brain. The related position of methodological naturalism states that philosophy and science ought to operate under the assumption that there are only physical entities or, likewise, that non-observable supernatural entities do not exist. Physicalism is a strong form of metaphysical naturalism. The ontology of physicalism ultimately includes whatever is described by physics. Because it claims that only physical things exist, physicalism is a form of ontological monism.
