And these are two dinosaur species that co-existed 68-66 million years ago in western North America, so it would represent a possible real-world interaction, but we've deliberately left the scenario open, as to whether this represents T. rex killing Triceratops or scavenging an already dead individual. The idea is to better portray the role of an apex predator, which is often opportunistic. In life, I imagine that even T. rex would have favored easier meals than a healthy, adult Triceratops – if such were available: young or sick or elderly individuals, for example.
As Pangea split there were huge volcanic eruptions, about 200 million years ago, and these plunged the world into chaos: environmental destruction and rapid climate swings, the big amphibians couldn't cope well and many species went extinct, but dinosaurs and mammals made it through.
This new data allowed us to observe the biological diversity of white sharks living in the Mediterranean, by analyzing and comparing different specimens, we were able to estimate that the white shark population in the Mediterranean started to evolve differently from other cognate populations around 3.2 million years ago. This essentially proves that those theories about sharks colonizing the Mediterranean around 450,000 years ago are wrong.
