for the term 'metathinking' to have any meaning, it must be linked to a methodology. If merely logical, such a methodology would be vacuous. If based on systems dynamic, it would be promising except that systems thinking cannot transcend its ties to formal logic. For this reason, I believe that a metathinking methodology based on dialectic (for instance in the sense of Roy Bhaskar 1993) has a real chance to support the development of metathinking, whether in individuals or teams. For teaching and learning materials on meta-thinking see http://www.interdevelopmentals.org/?page_id=1974 where meta-thinking is shown to be an adult-developmental achievement for which everybody has at least some of the resources needed. There is even a manual of dialectical thinking called "Dialectical thought form manual", authored by yours truly.
