Wikipedia
Medium frequency
Medium frequency (MF) is the ITU designation for radio frequencies (RF) in the range of 300 kilohertz (kHz) to 3 megahertz (MHz). Part of this band is the medium wave (MW) AM broadcast band. The MF band is also known as the hectometer band as the wavelengths range from ten to one hectometers (1000 to 100 m). Frequencies immediately below MF are denoted low frequency (LF), while the first band of higher frequencies is known as high frequency (HF). MF is mostly used for AM radio broadcasting, navigational radio beacons, maritime ship-to-shore communication, and transoceanic air traffic control.
ChatGPT
medium frequency
Medium frequency (MF) refers to the portion of the radio spectrum that is within the range of 300 kHz to 3 MHz. This frequency range is often used for maritime radio navigation, broadcast transmissions, and AM radio broadcasting. Radio waves within this frequency are able to travel longer distances and are typically more stable compared to higher frequencies. MF signals are capable of following the curvature of the Earth, making them suitable for short to medium range radio communication.
