    Amélie Simone Mauresmo (French pronunciation: ​[ameli simɔn moʁɛsmo]; born 5 July 1979) is a French former world No. 1 tennis player and tournament director. Mauresmo won two major singles titles at the 2006 Australian Open and Wimbledon Championships, and also won the silver medal in singles at the 2004 Summer Olympics and the singles title at the 2005 year-end championships.Mauresmo first attained the top ranking on 13 September 2004, holding it for five weeks on that occasion. She was known for her powerful one-handed backhand and strong net play. She officially announced her retirement from professional tennis on 3 December 2009, ending a career of 15 years. The following year, she started coaching several WTA and ATP players, including Andy Murray. Mauresmo was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2015. In 2021, she was named the director of the French Open.
