  1. ketosis-resistant diabetes mellitus

Ketosis-resistant diabetes mellitus is a type of diabetes in which high levels of blood glucose can exist without causing the production of ketone bodies, a byproduct of fat metabolism that can accumulate in the blood and urine. This condition, also known as Type II diabetes, is typically associated with insulin resistance and most commonly appears in adults who are overweight or obese. Unlike Type I diabetes, it rarely causes ketoacidosis unless under severe stress or illness. Patients are resistant to ketosis due to the fact their bodies are still capable of producing insulin and thereby prevent the breakdown of fat that would form ketones.
