It originated from the old German Hedwig (compounded from hadu, "battle", and wig, "fight").     Jadwiga really lives up to her name: she never gets caught up in a bunch of drama even when she’s right in the middle, and she always keeps the stress of it all away from anyone who goes to ask her like a mother protecting their child.

    Etymology: Unclear as there’s more than 2 possible origins. It only became clearly Polish when the Monarch or Poland, Jadwiga, was crowned in 1384 and became the most beloved and remembered leader to this day. The name was popularized in Poland from then on although its become considered old fashioned since around the 1950s

    Boy the pronunciation is wrong. In Polish the w sounds like an English V. So it would sound like Yad Vee Gah!
