    Hostin is a Belgian last name which is also spelled "Ostyn" "Hostyn" and "Ostjin". Most of 'Ostyn' stay in the region of Bruges, Belgium. Countries like Brazil, Canada and USA had received Belgian and French immigrants with that last name. In Brazil the family Hostin arrived with other families at the Belgium settlement of Ilhota in the state of Santa Catharina in the first half of the 19th century. This settlement was started by the Belgium businessman Charles Van Lede of the Compagnie Belge-brésilienne de Colonisation. The colony was established in the area of the today's cities of Ilhota and Gaspar.
