ChatGPT

  1. heller

A heller is a monetary unit that was used in the Czech Republic and Austria, a subdivision of the koruna and schilling respectively. However, both countries have replaced their currencies with the euro and heller is no longer in use. It originates from the German word "häller," the name given to various old German coins of low denomination.

Wikidata

  1. Heller

The Heller or Häller, originally a German coin valued at half a pfennig, took its name from the city of Hall am Kocher. Mints produced the coin from the beginning of the 13th century, based on a previously-produced silver pfennig, but its composition deteriorated with the mixing in copper little by little so that it was no longer considered to be a silver coin. There were red, white and black Hellers. Beginning in the Middle Ages it became a symbol of low worth, and a common German byword is "keinen Heller wert", lit.: not worth a Heller, i.e. "not worth a tinker's curse". The term Heller came into wide use as a name for coins of small value throughout many of the German states up to 1873 when, after German unification, Bismarck's administration introduced the Mark and the pfennig as coinage throughout the German Empire. The German Heller saw a resurrection in 1904 when the government took over responsibility for the currency of German East Africa from the German East Africa Company. The Heller was introduced as 1/100 of a rupie instead of the pesa which had so far been a 1/64 of a rupie.

Examples of heller in a Sentence

  1. Luke Davies:

Joseph Heller was very prophetic and this has become more apparent as we move more deeply into this age of anxiety and absurdity, the novel is filled with crazy older men who are delusionally invested in the sense of their own glory and importance, and who are comically clueless. We have one of those guys in the White House right now, so it feels way more relevant even than it was a couple of years ago.

  2. Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval:

Earlier today, I notified the White House that I do not wish to be considered at this time for possible nomination to the Supreme Court of the United States, i have also spoken to Senators (Harry) Reid, (Dean) Heller and (Mitch) McConnell and expressed the same desire to them. The notion of being considered for a seat on the highest court in the land is beyond humbling and I am incredibly grateful to have been mentioned.

  3. Robert Lang:

He’s been the party’s standard bearer in previous instances, he just hasn’t won the general. He’s more dangerous in a primary to the opponent than he is in a general so far, if you said, could Tarkanian beat Heller? Yes. Would Heller be a stronger candidate in the general? Yes.

  4. Donald Trump:

We weren't friends. I didn't like Dean Heller and Dean Heller didn't like me, and as we fought and fought and fought, believe it or not, we started to respect each other, then we started to like each other, then we started to love each other.

  5. Donald Trump:

I'm thrilled to introduce a man that I spent a long time getting to know. At first, I fought him. I said,' This guy's tough. What's the story here, there's no better partner that I had in Washington than Dean Heller.
