It has a reputation as a pervasive invasive species in many areas as it can rapidly overtake gardens and lawns. Its leaves are small, round, and have scalloped edges, and it produces small purple flowers in the spring. It is native to Europe and Asia, but now can be found in many parts of North America as well. While often viewed as a weed, it can also be used for medicinal purposes and in cooking.
