   The West Side (W/S) Fruit Town Brims are a small yet long standing African American street gang established in the early 1970s on the west side of South Los Angeles, California. This gang began as an off-shoot of the Bompton Fruit Town Pirus when it was founded in 1974 by a former member of the gang who moved to west South Los Angeles. The names of both gangs derive from an area in north Compton where the streets are named Cherry, Peach and Pear. But since most gangs on the west side operated under the "Brims" card, it was named the Fruit Town Brims, as opposed to carrying the Piru card. The Fruit Town Brims are the smallest set of all 3 Brim gangs, geographically speaking. Most Fruit Town Brims members attended John Muir Jr. High School. During the 1970s there was the 30s Fruit Town Brims and the 40s Fruit Town Brims. The 40s Fruit Town Brims were located from 41st Street (north) to 48th Street (south) between Vermont (west) and Figueroa (east). Today their territory is centered around Vermont Avenue and stretches from Jefferson Blvd and 38th Street. Their most revered Crip rivalry is with the Rollin 30's Harlem Crips; a rivalry which has lasted over 20 years and caused many casualties on both sides respectively. Other rivals include the Rollin 40s Neighborhood Crips, Rollin 50s Neighborhood Crips, Rollin 60s Neighborhood Crips, Rollin 90s Neighborhood Crips, the West Boulevard Crips, the 6 Pacc East Coast Crips, 52 Hoover Gangster Crips, Mansfield Gangster Crips, Playboy Gangster Crips, School Yard Crips and the 18th Street Gang. The Fruit Town Brims are cliqued up with the Harvard Park Brims as well as the Van Ness Gangster Brims and are friendly towards the Rollin 20s Neighborhood Bloods, the Black P. Stones as well as the Fruit Town Pirus of Compton. Due to their shared hatred for all Rollin 0's gangs, the Fruit Town Brims recently became friendly towards the "Nutty North Side" faction of the Eight Tray Gangster Crips as well.
