Fight-or-flight response
The fight-or-flight or the fight-flight-or-freeze-fawn response (also called hyperarousal or the acute stress response) is a physiological reaction that occurs in response to a perceived harmful event, attack, or threat to survival. It was first described by Walter Bradford Cannon. His theory states that animals react to threats with a general discharge of the sympathetic nervous system, preparing the animal for fighting or fleeing. More specifically, the adrenal medulla produces a hormonal cascade that results in the secretion of catecholamines, especially norepinephrine and epinephrine. The hormones estrogen, testosterone, and cortisol, as well as the neurotransmitters dopamine and serotonin, also affect how organisms react to stress. The hormone osteocalcin might also play a part. This response is recognised as the first stage of the general adaptation syndrome that regulates stress responses among vertebrates and other organisms.

Anger is a form of stress, and so when we hold on to anger it is as though we are turning on the body's stress response, or fight or flight response, chronically. We know that turning on this response chronically leads to wear and tear on the body, it may not be surprising that when we engage in the act of forgiveness, we can begin to turn off the stress response and the physiological changes that accompany it.
We need to think about -- are there other models ? Could we bring in social workers, psychologists, trained behavioral health people, instead of having a group of armed, uniformed police that( are met) with a strong fight-or-flight response ?

Adrenaline is an anti-erection chemical and is the main driver in the fight-or-flight response, when men have had failed attempts at sex, or they have developed anxiety and stress because of previous failed attempts, adrenaline kicks in and contributes to erectile dysfunction by shifting the blood away from the penis. The term' psychological erectile dysfunction' puts the blame on the man. I prefer to call it' adrenaline-mediated erectile dysfunction.'.
