    Evenness is a concept commonly used in mathematics and environmental science. 1) In mathematics, evenness refers to a numerical quality of being divisible by 2 without a remainder. Any integer that can be exactly divided by 2 is known as an even number. 2) In ecology or environmental science, evenness is a measure of biodiversity. It quantifies how equal the community, in terms of the number of species and the number of individuals of each species. Higher evenness indicates that individuals are distributed equally among the different species.
