The foundational qualifications of an engineer typically include a four-year bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, or in some jurisdictions, a master's degree in an engineering discipline plus four to six years of peer-reviewed professional practice (culminating in a project report or thesis) and passage of engineering board examinations.    Engineers are a British shoegazing/dream pop band. The band was formed in London in 2003 by singer/guitarist Simon Phipps, bassist/guitarist/keyboardist Mark Peters, bassist/guitarist Dan MacBean, and drummer Andrew Sweeney. After the release of their second album Three Fact Fader in 2009, MacBean and Sweeney left the band, and were replaced by Ulrich Schnauss, bassist Daniel Land, and drummer Matthew Linley. Engineers' sound has been described as "hazy, ethereal, and atmospheric," and the band often cites the works of Brian Eno, Cocteau Twins, Spiritualized, and Pink Floyd as influences.
