Edward Fitzgerald
English poet and translator, born near Woodbridge, Suffolk, 31 March, 1809. Educated at Cambridge and took his degree in ’30. He lived the life of a recluse, and produced a fine translation of Calderon. His fame rests securely on his fine rendering of the Quatrains of Omar Khayyam. Died 14 June, 1883.
