    Amir Chūpān (Persian: امیر چوپان‎; died November 1327), also spellt Choban or Coban, was a Chupanid noble of the Ilkhanate, and nominal general of the Mongol Empire. His father was named the Malek of the Mongol Suldus clan. His ancestor was Chilaun (Чулуун), who was one of Chingis Khan's four great companions.

    After Amir Chopan(Chupan) came to Hazarastan and territory of Hazara Dai Chopan(Chupan), Hazaras invite him to Hanafi Sunni Islam. Amir Chupan accepted to follow Islam religion and then changed his name to Chupan(Chopan). Chupan is a Hazaragi (Persian/Dari) word that means shepherd, herder, rancher, pastor and neatherd. Amir chupan also named his daughter and sons according to the places and famous cities as Baghdad(in Iraq), Dameshq(in Syria) and Misr(Egypt in the north east of Africa)

    Amir Chupan was invited to Hanafi Sunni Islam by Hazara Dai Chupan.

    Etymology: Chupan means shepherd, rancher and pastor.
