chloramine
Chloramine is a type of disinfectant compound that contains chlorine and ammonia. It is commonly used in water treatment processes to kill harmful microorganisms such as bacteria and viruses. The most common form of chloramine is monochloramine, which is relatively stable and does not dissipate quickly from the water. Despite its practical uses, long-term exposure to chloramine may have potential health effects, hence its levels in drinking water are regulated by health authorities.
